    Default 90-Day Inactive threadlock

Not rabidly anti-necro, but there's a general anti-necro sentiment in online forums which I do agree with. Lots of games have the auto-lock-after-90-days thing, and I think it would work here. Any thoughts?

I love watching my 2 year old thread about rogue hate pop back up every 6 months or so... Tells me as much as things change, they stay the same....

Don't really see a need for locking older threads... they either die a quite death, or are a lot of fun when the forum necromancers get going....

The threads that make it back up to the top usually contain replies to content over a year old. I would rather a user create a new topic discussing problem X then have something horribly out of date pop up.

Unfortunately, the pace of DDO development is not such that 90 days is enough for a subject to reasonably become out of date. The downsides of automatic thread-lock is that new posts or new threads are created to get around it, when there are already adequate things existent.

It's only a necro if you are bumping it either to troll with, and/or after the information is no longer relevant.

Otherwise, it is much preferable to read and then add to an existing post on a legitimate topic than it is to spam and rehash all the same points with a duplicate thread.

    Definitely against.

I know that there are several guides on the forums that can go many months without posted activity, while still being viewed and used, only to be revived with fresh activity as things in the game change, or the OP goes back to work on it.

My guide to using gamepads has probably sat idle for 3 months at one point or another, but has been useful to many, and I'm (usually) happy to see a new poster leaving their thoughts or own schemes there, as an example.

My Mentor Program Thread goes a long time between posts... is it any less valid?

character builds, tactics and strategy, definitive guides, etc...all of these are updated over time, sometimes untended for months..then more is added or edited.

These threads cover so much information. To lock them would be an injustice to new and old players who rely on them to be updated.

And...what I would not give to look back to the pre-2007 forums that they deleted...sigh. Those were memories indeed.
