    3. I have been returning (several times a day) since the initial preview was announced late last week. There has been no change.

    IE 8 does not seem to let me move a character over, looks like the web page is having trouble.

    I also messed up today and deleted a toon from the test server in hopes of trying to move him as a level 18 toon now instead of 12 from last year, owell guess I should have read up on it.

    Unhappy Character Copy

    I have been trying to copy a character over to Lamannia for tonight. Every time I click on the character I want to copy- or anything else on the page- I get a yahoo page not found error. Even refreshing does this.

    Please try this.
    After rereading THOON's post I decided to try something that worked sometimes on web pages I tested for my old IT department.

    After the "Character Copy Page"LOADS I kept hitting the reload / refresh button until the box WITH wording appeared on the upper right side of the page.

    This is the box that will show the characters U want moved after U select them. This worked in both Firefox and Explorer.

    As for selecting the characters U want to move AFTER doing the above...

    Under Firefox if U move the mouse up and down just right of the field / box of the character U wish to move, U will see the mouse change. Watch carefully as the spot U want to hit is VERY SMALL.
    Under Explorer U just need to click on the broken symbol.

    Unhappy Character Copy

    I wait until the page loads. I get a screen with all of my alts listed and a box to the right that states: Select characters in the list to the left that you would like to copy.

    I click on the name I wish to copy and I am redirected to a page that says yahoo error 404: Page not found. I hit refresh, I get the same thing.

    Unhappy Nothing works.

    Well I've tried doing what Thoon suggested and what Yellfor suggested ( refreshed like 20 times... ) and nothing has changed/worked. I am getting the same results as KreepyKritter; clicking the broken picture/link for each of my alts does nothing and there are no broken picture/links on the bottom of the page or boxes on either the left or right side. The only thing that does "work" is if I click on one of my alts names, and all that does is send me to the my.ddo.com home page. So I guess I'm just outa luck for joining this event.

    Almost wonder if there's a race condition going on and those who are closer latency wise get things to complete correctly (Thoon) and then the further away you get, the more likely you won't get it ever to load in the correct order (100ms latency here).

    Oh well... 40 full refreshes (20 in IE and 20 in FFox) later with no change... done trying. Have a good event tonight.

    This. ^

    Pretty much verbatim what I'm dealing with. Missed out on the first preview because of it, with no acknowledgement.

    I've actually only ever gotten it to work once, and the one time I did, I was never able to actually load Lama in the first place. I'm about to the point of just not bothering with Lamannia at all... guess it's a good thing there wasn't a wipe done after the last round of Lama testing, or there'd be NO feedback for this event.

    I dunno... are the other people hitting the Error-Wall ALSO guilty of being unmitigated asp-holes too?

    Unfortunately, this is the step that does not work, at all. If I click it on IE, nothing happens. After going through the trouble of forcing firefox to show broken images instead of just not showing them, the result when clicking on the image is the same, nothing happens, and I'm still left with 5 characters to copy

    By the way, for anyone interested, here's the procedure for firefox:

    C:\Documents and Settings
    \<username>
    \Application Data
    \Mozilla
    \Firefox
    \Profiles
    \<profile>
    \chrome

    Find, or create, userContent.css file, and add this:

    Code:
     /*
      * Show image placeholders
      */
     @-moz-document url-prefix(http), url-prefix(file) {
       img:-moz-broken{
         -moz-force-broken-image-icon:1;
         width:24px;
         height:24px;
       }
     }

    Tried with IE8 and Firefox 3.6.13 to copy any of my characters from Khyber. With either browser, a current and up-to-date character list shows up.

    With IE8, I see broken links, but clicking on them does nothing AT ALL.

    With Firefox, the broken image links don't show. Tried clicking where they should be, nothing.

    A friend tried with his characters on Khyber and got the exact same results.

    Default Was I chosen?

    I'd like to start by saying that tonight's event went much smoother than the one last Saturday, though there are still a few bugs to work out. Thank you all for the fun!

    I have a question about the contest, though. I was standing in the tavern tonight during the Event Preview and +Thoon typed my Twitter name into general chat. I wasn't sure if he was trying to get my attention or not so I waited for a few minutes, saluted him, then went about my killing spree. ... WAS he trying to get my attention? Was there something I was supposed to do but instead saluted him and left?

    In the pirate area a paladin can not cast Holy Sword, is considered a public area.

    In the Crystal Cave I keep getting 'caught' on the kobold workers and slight changes in the levels (especially the entrace to the western cave).

    I tried twice to solo the Crystal Cave on a 20 paladin (with Klin the hireling cleric and his Herz).

    I found I was unable to get many attacks to register if fighting on the ramp (yet could get hit easily by the mobs).

    Enemy arrows make me 'stutter' (like a minor rubber banding effect) when detecting if they hit me as I run towards the archer, this was very pronounced in the Crystal Cave (making it very annoying to play).

    The mobs had very high AC, despite having +36 to hit I was missing most of the time. I suspect this is a bug with creating the target hit detection list as when I first engage the enemy I normally (on current live) get a series of misses (4-8), then start hitting 'normally'. This was much more pronounced in the 'twitchy' pirate mobs in the Crystal Caves (not the skeletons).

    It appears the mobs in the CC kept 'resetting' each time the jump away from me, as if I had not already engaged them, generating the inital series of 4-8 misses repeatedly.

    I suspect this has to do with the Lama build's speed being slightly slower to respond than live, thus exagerating these effects/bugs. [I have ~350 ms ping to Turbine.]

    Has Greensteel items been changed in the new build or are these string table errors?

    Some of the effects have new names and descriptions on Lama but do not appear to effect my actual stats.

    My tier 3 CO item no longer mentions 'Elemental Energy' (+10HP), instead having 'Pirate Vitality' (+5 HP) but my total HP has not changed from live (ie still gives +10 HP, description is incorrect).

    My tier 2 Raise Dead clicky no longer mentions 'Elemental Spellpower' (+50 SP) but has 'Pirate Cleverness' (+30 SP) but my total SP has not changed from live.

    Sigh, I'll be...

    Apparently, if you keep reloading the page, as was mentioned in the thread, and do this for hours and hours, to the point where the servers start sending you to the turbine maintenance page half the time, probably thinking it's a DoS attack or something , a box with text appears in the box to the right of the character selection box. When that box does appear, THEN do the links to select characters work.

    I copied my character for future usage, but alas I wasn't able to do this until way too late, at which point I was just too thoroughly annoyed to come report it, until now.

    There are clearly some kinks in the system, something is failing to load, probably a script. Also, the missing graphics make it nearly impossible for firefox users to use the system, and this should be an extremely easy, quick fix for anyone with access to the web server, and I'm a bit flummoxed as to why this problem remains.

    Overall, I'm still rather disappointed this happened, and I hope Turbine will take steps to make sure this doesn't keep happening to other customers.

    Default B'day Event Testing

    I wasn't able to find any bugs in the event though I did play around with it for a couple of hours as a level 1 since character copy wasn't working and I was trying to get a compass and collect map pieces to open the raid; I didn't realize they were opening the raid for us about once per hour. All the items in the box looked juicy and I'll be playing a lot when this goes live to get as many of them as I can.

    I wasn't able to join the raid in hour 2 (missed hour 1 due to an afk disconnect) because it requires you to be level 3; after everyone so RUDELY screamed at me for not automatically being a veteran toon and for not going to this magical (I saw imaginary and delusional) place where they say they can actually level from 1 to 3 in under 15 minutes by themselves (did I say they were delusional? I meant liars...), +Tolero came to my rescue and teleported me away to Lord Poincelot who gave me free beta points to buy vet status with, which I thought I already had anyway but couldn't make a vet toon. After a bit, she realized that because I couldn't copy a toon, I couldn't make a vet because you have to have a level 4 toon already on that server before you can make a vet toon.

    So then, she whisked me away to marketplace trainers and gave me a buttload of instant experience so I was able to ding several levels with no effort on my part other than taking her suggestions such as "hold on to you hat!" and "now stand still!" Rushing through leveling, she then TP'd me back to Smuggler's Rest boat so I could jump into the crystal caves with half the time still remaining, and I was all alone in the raid, though I did quite well with my gimped level 4 half-orc cleric with a moldy quarterstaff, and I got over 75% of the crystals needed to complete the raid in half the total raid time allowance with no help from anyone else. It was fun and crazy-insane trying to figure it all out myself with very little time.

    The only problem I had was several times I led a group of kobold miners to a pile of crystals and they just walked around and ignored them (and a kobold would even walk off into the shadows to mine a crystal while ignoring all these I had lit up!!!); no matter how many torches I put around the area, they would NOT mine some areas even though they were lit up like Xmas trees! And I handled the small groups of level 4 mobs fine and killed a few level 5 bosses, until right at the end when there was about 3 minutes left, I got ganked by a level 6 mnotaur boss and a ton of hoggoblins but luckily after killing a few of them, I was able to lay down my life at the shrines by the boat back to the harbor so I could get up and fight to the death again! These guys killed almost all of my kobold workers so it was time to get out of these dangerous caves for sure!

    As I ran up ramps whacking mobs as I went and jumped off the sides for relief and time to heal, then headed back up again, until the timer was almost up, trying to get as many loot drops as I could since the mining expedition was clearly a disaster, the timer got down to almost nothing, so I sprinted for the boat, and as I could see my escape route getting closer and was about to leap for safety, I was notified by yon Dungeon Master that I had failed miserably and of course I couldn't keep any of my crystals since I didn't meet my quota though I did get to keep the compass (which was easily found on about the 3rd mob I killed when I got to the island) and was teleported out by my ears instead of being able to row away and yell taunts and angry curses at my pursuers.

    On the island itself, it wasn't much fun getting killed by level 20 minotaurs on my level 1 noob-alicious squishy gimp tester and spending a lot of time in the tavern, but I did get over an hour's worth of actual killing and looting map pieces and doubloons and stolen gems from mobs levels 1-5.

    It was much fun and I can't wait for the event to go live so I can play it until I'm sick of it. The best part of it was +Tolero taking the time to do everything she could to make sure that I was able to get into the raid. Thank you soo much!!! And as always, the worst part of it was the other players who at times remind me of WoW players who seem to only want to make everyone else quit the game by being mean and rude and hateful. +Tolero refused to spank them for me and said "it's just the pirates getting to them."

    The most STUPID thing about the whole night is that since I had to run around and do all this stuff with +T and losing half my raid time then having to do it alone, I FORGOT to take a dang picture with a kobold, so I couldn't send it in. However, I think a dev looked at my twitter handle in my bio; at least I was told they did, so hopefully I'll win something for my 2 hours besides the fun I had with the new event!

    The most EMBARASSING thing was drooling all over the chest of loot with everyone else watching! My word that's a LOT of stuff to grind for, and I want it ALL and I want it NOW!
