Default Any builds for Sorc Helf pls

I would like to build a sorcerer half-elf for a static group, it must be a 28 point build , i am new to building chars so any help would be appreciated.
I'm thinking of a nuker type build, with some cc as secondary consideration, i see my role in the group as high damage dealer. I am not really concerned with buffs as i will have a cleric at my disposal and any traps will be the rogues problem, i would like to be able to evade any trouble i may encounter, i had considered the paladin diletante to help keep me safe.
Please feel free to recommend any gear you think would be useful such as wands and scrolls.

    Thanks.

Try starting stats 8 str, 8 dex, 16 con, 10 int, 8 wis, 18 cha
Try DPS primary and buff secondary.
    Barbarian Diliante'.
Skill points in Diplomacy and UMD.
Feats Imp toughness, empower, maximize, quicken, extend +2 others of your choice.
Potency, Diplomacy, cha, con - Max out these items.

    Why Half Elf?

There is very little synergy with that Race choice.

Thanks Jelly, i wanted to take the Paladin dil. for the bonus to saves, apart from that i agree and this will be the basis for the character.

How about the Favored Soul Dilettante instead for some healing via wands and scrolls?

This character will only run with one group, it will be a full party whenever it quests and the group will be very methodical, using strategy and planning to complete all possible options. Speed is not important, the reason i chose Half Elf is the same reason i play DDO, i thought it might be fun.

    Umm...why NOT Half Elf?

No Con Penalty or Charisma penalty
Racial Enhancement can be applied to Charisma
Special cooldown timers for Charisma based skills
Free Dilettante feats? Including ones that grant self-healing?
    Arcane Fluidity

Nope, there's clearly NO reason for a Sorcerer to be a Half-Elf. Half-Orc and Dwarf are OBVIOUSLY the best options.

The group will have a dedicated healer at all times, although i did consider this dil. i thought increased saves more beneficial, to keep me effective during combat.

On a somewhat less exasperated note, starting a Sorcerer now is just begging to eat a Lesser Reincarnate in about 4 weeks. When the Elemental Savant PrE's go live with Update 9, the nuker builds will undergo radical changes. Waiting to see what they look like on Lamannia might be prudent.

So, if you are starting the character right now, just set aside the turbine points for the Heart of Wood, and do not fuss too much about the details of the build to start with.

Also...most game guides recommend your first arcane caster be a Wizard. It makes it far cheaper and easier to experiment with the various spells and change them up. Not to mention the fact that TRed Sorcerers benefit hugely from Wizard Past Lives.

Many races donthave a con penalty... and 20 hit pints isnt that big a deal anyway.
Racial Enhancement can be applied to Charisma
    yes, theres 1.....
Special cooldown timers for Charisma based skills
That no one uses on a sorc anyway.
Free Dilettante feats? Including ones that grant self-healing?
Sorcs can easily get enough UMD to be just as self healing.
    Arcane Fluidity
No reason to weat armor on a sorc.

I didnt say anything about Half-orc or Dwarf did I? It was a simple question. I didnt say H-E sucked. I just said it lacked Synergy. Which it does... But his reason is just fine.

    Umm...what race *has* synergy then?

Warforged? If your concern is self healing, Favored Soul Dilettante gets that for you without sacrificing three points of Charisma and annoying the party Cleric.

I find your observation just a tad strange, since Half Elf is arguably in the top tier of control-Sorcerer (i.e. Sorcerers with higher than 13 Charisma at level 1) races, along with Drow and Humans.

If you're planning a multiclass splash for any reason, it gets better.

    huh?

Every race should be well over 13 CHR at level 1.

a WF Sorc should never "annoy" a cleric.

any sorc should be able to get to a No Fail Heal Scrolls. FvS Dillatante is academic.

90% Success at Heal scrolls = 37 UMD. (same as maxed Dilettante)

Lessee, UMD is cross class, so a max of 11 ranks, and that's eating up the lion's share of your skill points...
+4 for self buffed Greater Heroism...

That means you need a 54 Charisma. Not gonna happen.

Sure, if you have gear...and burn feats...or fiddle with multiclassing...you can close the gap. But that requires gear...or feats...or losing the capstone...

Favored Soul Dilettante is easier. It is a feat you get for free as a bonus at level 1. It's a cheaper and more convenient way of getting self healing than UMD.

That, my good sir, sounds an awful lot like synergy.

ok, Now I see where you are coming from.. thanks...

    BTW....

    11 Ranks
    4 GH
    2 Luck
    6 Shroud Item
3 Golden Cartouse, Bunny hat or Abbot Gloves
    ---
    26

    39-26 = 13
Which means you only need a 36 CH to Get to No fail Heal Scrolls.

    Its not really that hard....

    CHR
    18 base
    5 Levels
    3 Sorc
    3 Exceptional
    2 Tome
    6 Item
    ----
37 If you put absolutely no effort into your CHR as a sorc.

Now add ship buffs, yugo Pots, Litanys, Better Tomes, Epic Items, etc etc...

A build that should suit your wishes:

Note: Paladin Dilettante only allows you to use 5 points of your Charisma bonus to add to saves. Instead, I had you take two levels of actual Paladin, which lets you add ALL of your Charisma bonus (Getting it to about +11 should be straightforward) to saves, as well as granting armor proficiencies and weapon proficiencies which will be a vast help at low levels. Elf Arcane Fluidity also permits this. Mithral armor is your friend.

Also, this will let you dress in a somewhat more manly fashion than an evening gown and high heels, should you so choose.

Since you get a Dilettante feat, I chose Barbarian for you. The extra bit of Constitution and Hit Points will be handy. If you want to use healing items beyond the Cure Wands that you get from the Paladin levels, you might also choose Favored Soul Dilettante and rearrange enhancement points accordingly.

As far as the spell list, it's fairly rough. I'm sure you can find all sorts of "Take these spells if you're a Sorcerer" threads in the Sorcerer forums.

This guy's running a 28 point build. He's not going to have a +6 Exceptional Charisma Skills Greensteel item for quite a while. Especially in a static group that doesn't necessarily raid.

I'm not even sure counting on +2 tomes is a sure thing.

Yes, you're right, Half Elf might not be optimal for a Sorcerer who's doing high end raids and epic content. But it's just what the doctor ordered for the new player just starting out.

Even the warforged self-healing "melee sorcerers" tend to get stat and gear intensive.

    +1 Entelech, much appreciated.
One rule the static group has decided on is to keep the chars pure class, i will still build this char just not for use with the group.
I may wait for the update you mention, i want this char to be focussed on offensive casting, with lots of spell points, high dc's and damage.

if you want the best caster you can make... do NOT multiclass. Especially a Sorc where you are already short on spell Slots.

What is it you want Impaqt? You have posted 6 times in a thread asking for a build and this is the best you can do? I wish i could remove reputation.
Hardly seems worth the effort of a hall of famer or is that a troll hall of fame?
