Default what's so great abot wings

I haven't made a favored soul past level 7 yet.. i'm curious about something. in the forums, you guys really talk the wings up like they are a really great class feat..

Would someone please elaborate what the wings do and when they are usefull?

i see these dudes manifesting wings and zooming too and fro. is it a get out of trouble thing ...?

    thanks

You click the button and get moved a short/medium distance forward immediately. Short cooldown.

#1 You can use them when chained/harried etc. - even with red dungeon alert.

#2 It allows you to reach some spots that else would not be available (situational)

#3 It allows you to move faster - which is always good.

    Wings are god.

They represent a dramatic increase in character movement speed, the ability to move fast when you would otherwise be unable to (when chained by Sully, for instance), and they are an awesome tool for Blade Barrier kiting.

They are all that and a bag of potato chips.

    Mobility. Pure and simple.

Imagine being able to move faster than everything else. Low on health, leave the fight. Pesky trap. Jump over it. Uber blade barrier kiting.

Wings have spoiled things pretty badly for my other characters.... the mobility is that good.

Try walking around town unhasted with no strider on. Thats what its like when you go from using wings to just being hasted with 30% striding.

Also wings are probably the most powerful ability in the game which helps.

Wings on a FvS (requires 17 levels of FvS) are useful for kiting mobs through blade barriers (a great way to solo quests on your FvS).

Wings are also useful for more traditional kiting duties like the shadows in Tower of Despair.

Wings are great for jumping for coins in the Winter Ice Festivals.

    Hope this helps.

Don't forget it gives you feather falling too--just in case switching to your ff item just somehow slips your mind while jumping off the ledge in the subterrane

I haven't experienced the wings on a FvS yet (don't have one) but when I got abundant step on my monk, all i did was leap around for days.

The best part about it on a FvS: it's powered by spell points and not ki. You could wing around for ages with all that mana!

Any FvS build without wings is auto-fail. Doesn't matter what else the build does.

    They're that good.

I actually find it difficult to play any other character, or any FvS below level 17, because they lack wings. Monk could do it with abundant step...I haven't made a serious monk character yet.

I have abundant step on one monk and wings on two FvS. It's such a great feat. I can't imagine building a FvS that wouldn't have them.

Which is a downside as well as an upside, like if you absently mindedly wing across the market on your way to RR. YAWNdrop.

This is the only downside to Leap of Faith (which is the name of the ability that gives you wings). I do kind of wish you could dismiss the Feather Fall.

Unfortanetly the wings aren't on permanent display.

But they help you move faster for short period bursts and jump chasms that only monks & FVS's can negotiate.

I am going to hop onto the wings are great band wagon.

FVS wings should be a controlled substance, they are that addictive. When your first FVS gets wings you'll run around thinking they are awesome fun. If you play that toon for a while you'll get used to having them. Then, someday, you'll play an alt and get hit with the crash. The first thing you notice is how dang slow you are moving around the town, asking yourself, "does it really need to take this long to get places?" Next you'll be in a dungeon and want to wing over to, or out of, a fight. Out of habit click some random button on your alt that should have been your wings. A sudden sad realization will hit you that, "you aint got no wings Captain Dan." Congratulations, you're going through the process of wing withdrawal. Its painful, but with help you can go through a recovery period and get used to the idea of moving slow, having mere mortal mobility, and no longer enjoying the annoyance of your party as you spray feathers all over them when you leave them behind.
