I think I read somewhere that Patience left Turbine earlier this week.

Don't think of it as a penalty. Turbine is giving you a gift for doing nothing. They are just giving away other gifts, that may be better, to other people for doing nothing.

The gift tiers were based on some things, some you quality for... some you don't.

In the end, if you don't like it.... drag it out of your inventory, and hit YES.

(Now, if the top tiered hat would help me post a QUOTE properly, THEN I'd do whatever possible to upgrade it.)
Instead of ?QUOTE] you need a "[/"QUOTE] (no parenthesis.)
    Cannith - Falconsbane(8 - 3rd life), NeedOil (14), NeedMead, Needfood, hobbitarcher(5)
    Sarlona - Zebidiahh (19.8), Anotherpers(20), Smurgh(16), Falconsbane(14), Needoil(15)
The first rule of the trashcan guild is expect to die...
    There is no second rule.

The problem is, the game mechanics are fundamentally flawed at high level.

    - AC is broken. There are already threads on the problem.
    - Arcane spells are broken: either the damage they deal is either trivial or mobs are simply immune.
    - Gear inflation has already elevated PC's above the level of gods (as written for a PnP game)
    - This is the reason mobs need 10k hp
    - This is also the reason arcane spells are broken, they don't scale with gear
    - New mechanics: DDO is handicapping itself by sticking to mechanics that fit into the D&D framework
    - There are plenty of ideas for new mechanics out there
    - Until they place new mechanics in the game, all new content will continue to play just like the old content.

That being said, the fix you will most likely get is trash mobs flagged immune to hold monster and stuns.
    Very interesting...

My frustration is a bit different as I simply want actual mechanics fixed; repeaters, combat animations etc. What your refering to woulld be classified as game mechanics that have been intentionally set to hamper adventurers from easily maneuvering through a dungeon. I would classify those as nerfs and yes I have feverently complained about them in the past as they were slowly implemented over time.

I would argue that the mechanics are not hampered by Turbine sticking to the D&D rule set. In fact it is hampered because they have wildly strayed from the ruleset with their invention of enhancements. This is a two edged sword. We all like enhancements but it does open up major balance issues with game mechanics.

As much as I complain about this game what keeps me comming back is the mechanics, the people and the fact that Turbine produces some good stuff when they actually do. They are pretty bad when it comes to polish, however; but I can say that their community relations have grown by leaps and bounds. I complain because I care, if I were silent I would likely have moved on...

Not quite bad, not even different, just unexpected. The enhancements is nothing but a class builder and does it surprisingly well.
See the PnP only had the prestige classes and class variants but the DM gets to pick those that fit the campaign and the DM is encouraged to make new ones.

If we had to pick from a fixed list of classes we wouldn't have as much customization as 3.5e was meant to have.
(which was arguably reverted for 4e when 3.5 became too much customization)

Instead of the DM making more paths that can't possibly cover everything we want they just allow us to do our own builds and add abilities to taste using the enhancements.
