Can me make a decision and stick with it? Please? Why is half this game programmed based off account and half based off character?
Choose one and stick with it. Work based off account or character. Things are getting twisted in knots by this half of one approach.
BTW, this is stupid and Em hit the nail on the head. I have my original character from 06. He's a bank toon but he'll have a nice hat.
“If at first you don't succeed, keep on sucking till you do succeed.”
I think you are looking at it wrong. They use both so they have a way to graduate between unbound and character bound. They also have bind to character on equip. Having a couple middle setting allows more flexibility in loot design, more variety and allows them to test player dynamics like "do we get more map pack sales when the loot is BTC or BTA or "bind on equip".
They can look at questions like: do players play (and buy) quests more that have BTA loot more because they can twink alts by playing it on all available characters? While quests that have BTC loot maybe get played over a longer time frame because you have to run them only with the character that wants the loot? Does BTC end up with less LFM's, and lower map pack sales because the quest gets "slow and steady" LFM's? Instead of 10 LFM's at all times for two months, and then nothing? In other words does something like Delera's pack sell better (in the long run) or does something like Sentinels? Delera's = always an LFM here and there... Where as Sentinels has a big flurry of mass LFM's when it came out, and then poof you can't find a group for it anymore, everyone got what they wanted... Simplistic example I admit... but it's just one example. (actually I've never played Sentinels and can't remember if it has BTA loot, so might be a bad example, I never see LFM's for it any more so I assume people got their alts twinked and moved on, same thing happened to Chrono but that was f2p so.)
Maybe a better question they might want to answer is: Does purely BTC loot encourage players to ONLY play content on ONE character, resulting in less LFM's? So content like the titan raid, where only people who have characters that need Seven Fingered Gloves or Chattering ring ever bother running it?
IF they made the loot in Titan bind on equip instead of bind to character, I could run titan on my FvS... that's 2 extra runs a week that I might start an LFM for... I might add my Cleric and maybe my Monk... So by hypothetically changing Titan loot from BTC to Bind on equip, they could raise the profile (increased LFM's) of Titan raids on Thelanis JUST FROM MY OWN (theoretical) LFM's; from 2 a week to 8 a week... More LFM's = more players thinking "hey what do I need to do to run that, I keep seeing LFM's I'm going to get flagged" = more players joining and eventually maybe starting their own LFM's...
Just an example, but it illustrates how the binding mechanism could change the dynamic of a map pack...
BTW Dev's please consider making the loot in Titan bind on equip so it wont be such a dead pack

Its a gift , If someone gives you a gift you dont ***** about it .
Again the founder thing pops up. I recall the founder tag and helmet perk required playing and joining the forums prior to March 2006. And the harbor fountain perk required being in a guild with more than 25 members. There needs to be a second categoy of founder for people who Amazon screwed over by delivering the preorder on the last day of headstart and who couldn't find 25 people they wanted to run with.
Tormenting Role Players, Perma-Death players, and Turbine Mods since February 2006!

Were you raised by Klingons (TOS not those sympy nextgens)? What is wrong with them determining the criteria required for receiving the free imaginary item?
Why must so many whine because they may have to live without the extra "no actual loss if you don't have one".
Dear dev.s , reps, et alia,
please forgive the ill mannered louts. They never watched Mr. Rogers so they know no better. I promise to be appreciative of anything or nothing.
It's not much of a grind. I decided to TR my second favourite alt first so that I could get the favour on him before TR'ing my favourite. He's currently on level 15 and is fast approaching the 2500 favour - it's not been particularly hard to get. I've hardly done any content above level 10 either, which means that the famed xp-lacking levels aren't proving as much of an issue as I'm still running mostly 11-12 quests on elite, without a significant penalty. I crossed the 1750 boundary at around level 10/11.
TR makes it very easy to get favour as you need to quest more anyway. Just vary your questing and try to do everything on elite and only once until you've got enough.
That is an assumption, not a given. I know of quite a few VIP players who've spent quite a lot of cash on the game on top of that, myself included. On the flipside most of the people I know who switched to premium bought all the permanent stuff they wanted then have barely touched the store since.3) VIP's are given preference yet many premium accounts have spent the cash far exceeding VIP's. I am one of those having converted my account over to premium.
Not sure what a VIP is spending crazy money on that a premium who buys all the content wouldn't also spend money on "in theory"... Oh wait, this is anecdotal and third party... right, not taking shots at you but knowing a couple people who do one thing and not another doesn't just make it so.

I'm honestly not sure what qualifies someone as a founder. I seem to recall that I purchased the game as early as I could... but delayed starting it while one friend upgraded his computer and another switched from dial-up to DSL. Since I was going to be playing with my regular PnP group, I wanted all of us to be playing the game at the same time and didn't want to be ahead of anyone... and I didn't want to start up my first 30-Free days until I knew we were all ready to go. I do know that I purchased the original "Collector's Edition" (to get the awesome Boots of Minor Striding ) ... Though it looks like I didn't create my forum account until March 19th, 2006.
So, is a Founder only someone who pre-ordered and played in the 10-day Pre-Order Beta (I have emails discussing this with friends)? Or are they someone who was in the Beta before that? Or is it totally based on when you joined the forum? Or created your first character?
PS: Is there a way to see the date you created a character?
Both me and the other main active player in the guild (guild leader, actually) have purchased all the permanent stuff (adventure paks, shared bank, some huge bags, maybe some tomes, etc.) and yet still buy the biggest bunch of points every other month or so (preferably when it is bonus points). Personally I use it for the occasional res cake, sometimes some mana pots if I get in desperate straights, cosmetic items (hair styles/colors) and occasionally gold-seal hirelings if I am 'soloing' and run across an end-boss that heals faster than my beat-stick can damage.
While it is certainly true that in any given time period I may have spent more money than I might have if I had subscribed, I like the flexibility premium gives me to NOT have to pay anything in a given month if I need to use the money elsewhere, and just buy the points when I have extra discretionary funds.
That was kind of my point. Just because someone has gone premium doesn't mean they'll spend any more or less than a VIP in buying points over time, as the packs, races and classes aren't the only things available. On the flipside, a VIP is guaranteed to be paying X amount per month, whilst a premium member can sit there and spend nothing.
My disagreement was in the concept that people who have chosen to go for premium have done so in the full knowledge that VIPs are ~supposed~ to have advantages over them, no matter how much they may or may not have spent buying points, and was supposed to point out that the original poster was making an assumption that premium players spend more on points, which isn't necessarily true.
It is even inherent in the name, yet those who have gone down the premium route - who mostly have done so because it works out cheaper in the long run in my experience - still expect the priviliges of the higher class of account.
EDIT: MrkGrismer: I can understand the basis of wanting the flexibility, but in the end the fact that VIPs will get advantages has been made very clear from the start by Turbine, so I don't see a basis about complaining about it when people have chosen to go premium with that knowledge.
I've got no argument with that, and I am fine with the advantages (perks) that VIPs get in this game. I like that premiums can buy just about everything the VIPs get, with some exceptions, and the exceptions are 'nice to haves' and not anything that gives a VIP a large advantage. Contrast this with some other games, like Champions-Online, where the difference is rather large (14 powers for VIPs, only 11 for Premium/F2P).
I also have no problem with the +1 Tier for an active subscription although, of course, I would love for it to be +2 Tier for VIP and +1 Tier for being premium
