    Default Intimi-soul?

    If I were to get an effective intimidate skill, what would be required for a Helf FvS to tank a raid? How many HP would be mandatory? I think it would be pretty much impossible to get a decent AC. Would a 20 blocking DR be enough? I obviously know nothing about tanking so I need the numbers. Thanks in advance...

    Depends on your focus.

    Do you want enough intim to pull raid trash? Not too hard to do, won't need to sacrifice too much, might even be able to stay pure FvS.

    Enough to pull raid bosses? Hard but not totally impossible, you'll be splashing into a different class for extra intim ranks, so say goodbye to your capstone and DR.

    Enough for epic? Doubtful it's possible without crippling your character in other areas.

    Well I'm more thinking Tanking Harry/Sully and other similar demons. Could also do trash if needed. I think I could hit the intimidate marks sorta easy. Thinkin 18FvS/2Rogue. Here is the problem...Low hp(≈450) and ZERO armor class. Plus my DR would be...less than desirable unless I figure out something better...

    Fighter would be the obvious choice for the free feats and Tower Shield proficiency. The best DR shield in game currently is the Levik's.

    Let's break your intimidate down.

    23 - ranks
    15 - item
    5 - greensteel cha sp item
    4 - Improved intimidate IV
    ___

    5 - Human Versatility IV
    ___
    52

    So before adding your Cha modifier you could do VoD normal. It's possible, I'd take Paladin dilly for bonus to saves as well.

    Yeah the pally Dil is a given choice. And my chr mod would be 7/8 so I can hit mid 60's with GH. What about ac. Is it even important when you can self-heal like a beast? O and by the way, last time I checked lorikk's has the same DR rating but is a large shield. How much DR is required in raid scenarios?

    I could easily hit mid 30's self buffed in saves...40's with GH.

    Human 2pal18fvs is a great intimitank/healer in my eyes, high saves due to high charisma, lots of sp, high intim rank, human intim dragonmark, extra feat for bullheaded n stuff.

    I can give you some answers from the Cleric perspective, although I'm still toying with the build, gear and goals.

    Currently, I'm working off of the Radiant Servant Aura as a form of "ticking" DR. The character below (Saraphima) has 2 ranks in Human Recovery, Healing Amp 20% on Levik's Bracers, and Full ranks in Life Magic and the crit chance/multiplier lines.

    Currently blocking with a Madstone Shield and grinding for the eventual Levik's.

    She's got Earthem Guard on her DT armor, which helps a ton, as well as 2 Shroud Displacement Clickies.

    Here's her current high for self-buffed Intim., which is full ranks, 16 Base CHA (also for Divine Might), GH, HoGF, +15 Intim item, and +5 CHA skills item. Could go higher with Coin Lord favour, etc.



    I've been messing around in various situations to see what works and what doesn't. She intims Orthons great in VoD, and I took the shot below of her "intimitanking" a red named in EVoN1- you can see she caught him no-fail on a 1, although she's missing 20HP from Death Pact. My guildies are great in letting me test **** out, but I Death Pacted anyways, lol.

    The most damage she's taken so far has been from Sannyasi, that scorp at the end of Monastery. He hits like a truck, even on Normal. Didn't need to kite him around the room, though, and it made it super easy, smooth and fast to do the puzzle.



    From what I've tested so far, I wouldn't go below 450HP. Saraphima still needs to cleanse a Shroud item and get +2 exceptional CON on her ToD ring- she currently sits at 448. All told, with a +45HP item, +2 Exceptional CON, Rage and a Yugo Pot, she'll be at 573.

    The problem that you need to consider is that Intim can go wonky. What if you need to heal just at the moment you need to hit that intim button? What if you're depending on blocking DR and you need to heal? Going through that casting animation breaks your blocking. What about the guy in that pug with Incite on his DT and an ESoS? Lots of things to consider.

    I've thought about this too actually. A few constraints. If you do it, stay pure. The only class based ability which synergises with the objective of intimitanking is the what a FvS gets at level 20. +2 charisma, +2 intimidate skill, 10 DR.

    I just got this on my WF FvS and with a madstone shield and adamantine body i have 38 blocking DR, 15 otherwise. This would jump up by a fair few points if I pull a Lorrik's.

    I definitely approve of half-elf as your race choice, double intimidate will bring a lot to an intimidate build. Just expect to grind an absolute crapload if you want to intimitank the harder raids. I'd suggest not to worry too much, start with a decent charisma score (14+), put max ranks into intimidate (11) and look out for intimidate gear. Add up your feats, is there any flexibility for +intimidate feats such as skill focus: intimidate or bullheaded? Is there room for (improved) shield mastery?

    To tank a good variety of content you either want evasion or ~600+ HP, preferably both.

    I just don't see how it's possible to get so many **** hp... In all my plans I have a hard time getting 500. Can you break down how I could get that many in a build like this? I would sure appreciate it.

    I have 60 intim on my soul, she s pure DC caster.

    697 hp buffed hp

    This with a starting cha of 13.

    160 base fvs hP
    200 from 16 base con + 7 item + 3 exc +3 tome +1 human
    90 toughness + enhancements
    60 sfl+toughness item
    45 GS hp item
    20 rage
    40 yugo
    =615

    So it is possible but not really practical and requiring some pretty ideal gear but that is the hp that you need to tank some raids ( ToD for instance where you can get hit for a ~500'damage disintegrate).

    I do strongly suggest that is you going to do this that you stay pure. The natural DR that you get at level 20'turns any fvs into a decent tank and you get a decent boost intimidat as well.

    If I wanted to splash it would be to AC tank some content (orthons for instance) with a monk splash where the extra feats could be worthwhile. 2 monk and 1-2 fighter or 1-2 paladin could do that.

    Original plan was that intimi doubles spell aggro if i am not mistaken. Extra +25% comes from Anathema (almost waste of a ring slot i know), and maybe 10% more from purple dragon knight set? (interferes with torc tho). Capstone DR is missing but i can wear epic ringleader for 5/- DR if necessary (Horoth). This removes evasion but Horoth tanking doesnt require that anyway. Neither does LoB i hope.

    However, since dots cannot be kept up for long - no torc yet to have that infinite sp - the dps on the boss must be around maximum to kill it asap. And here comes the problem: lv3 dot + archon pewpew (superior clicky) together dont seem to be enough DPS even with intimidate to keep the bbeg on me.
    First test was on eDA end boss ---> barb and rog waited until i had dot on lv3, then they attacked... and turned him in about... 40-50 secs? Meh. Idk much about Turigulon's fortification or other vulnerabilities but top dps classes seemed to cause more threat than i did.

    Also, I dont wanna try to tank longer raids without torc providing enough sp for more than 5 mins of dotting.


    I have heard about fvs shield tanks keeping bosses on them and i still wonder how they keep the boss... prolly even without intimidate? How much time to generate enough aggro?

    I'm asking this because I wanna learn about FVS:

    If you put no ability points in to strength then you won't have any melee capability.
    If you put no ability points in to wisdome then you won't have any casting capability, since that is the DC modifier for FVS.
    So what will you be good at, other than being a healbot?
    I know that you can probably draw enough aggro from divine punishment, that doesn't have a save, and tank well, and have good UMD, but other than that, what good will you be for?

    Exactly. Pure fvs chars usually max out wisdom cos they get bored of healing and they want to be able to do something more.
    I wanna be able to tank - besides healing, ofc not both at the same time.
    As healbot i have less sp, no cap dr and free clw but high hp and evasion in exchange. A bit more survivability as healer.
