I disagree, I've known people to get vorped in Shroud when they had a silver flame necklace on (upgraded tier 3).
I don't trust anything that bleeds for seven days and still lives...

Just so you know, vorpal IS a magic effect. Its a magical enhancement on the item. You can't have a nonmagical vorpal weapon. And yes, deathblock stops vorpal.

Did they get really get vorpaled or have on the necklace? Or did they just say that to cover up the embarrassment of dying or forgetting deathblock? I wouldn't trust that testimonial unless I had first hand experience. And you know what? this is really easy to check. Get a low level with a vorpal weapon to beat on a high level with deathblock and low AC (maybe take off heavy fort, I know it shouldn't matter but it might make checking for confirmed crits easier). Watch for confirmed criticals, if they don't die with the correct combat log entry when it happens, deathblock obviously stops it.

Deathblock does indeed stop vorpal as well as smiting for our construct brethren. You'll see the little Deathward symbol pop up above your head when it blocks it.

The difference between the 2 is that Deathward also makes you immune to level drain and negative energy attacks.

It's easy enough to test out in a PvP if you're still having issues with the explanation.

As soon as I saw the thread title, I said to myself, "I bet the OP just ran Purge the Fallen Shrine." lol

On a related note, the necromancers in Small Problem on elite regularly cast Phantasmal Killer. That's a base 5th level quest!

Believe in Purge they only have vorpal on elite ( maybe hard as well ? ) I have never seen it happen on normal for instance.

One time, I got PK'ed by the Necromancer in Delera's pt 4. It never happened again.

DB is one reason why the Mabar cloak is so nice. Frees you up on your armor, trinket, etc. so you can use ToD sets, Icys, DT, etc.

Yeah but they won't live to make 20 weapon swings, while a bunch of casters can throw quite many slay living at you before you get to them.
