    Default Mob vorpals

Was on sands yesterday doing the walkups. In purge the fallen shrine I got vorpalled. I hadn't heard of any mobs short of the vale having vorpals. Maybe I am out of the loop, but I thought I would both check and warn. I think it was a Cacodemon that did it. Switched to my deathblock robes after that, but snick snack is never a good thing to read in you combat log.

Watch out, for Kasquick - the Kobold Liutenent in Shroud - has a vorpal blade too.

The non-fire demons in Purge the Fallen Shrine and Against the Demon Queen have had vorpal at least since they added epic mode. It's exciting to watch a party member just die and have no idea what happened.

Not sure about vorpal but PK abounds as early as Deleras, and a lot of the skeletons in the desert cast it, so best to start wearing your deathblock early, especially as the skeletons in the desert will also dispell your deathward clickies.

Yeah that would have been me.....took a few seconds to scroll back in the combat log. Pain in the ass since I was relying on greater fire resist robes to save the SP on the resist casting. Now I have to go deathblock and get resists on me from other sources.

Last time I was out here I was on my cleric and had DW on all the time so it was never much of an issue so it was news to me.

Kasquik having vorpal isn't really news to me but a L11 quest having mobs with it was... Thanks for the input though.

    LMAO yea, this quest.

I remember once spamming desert quests on elite for a friend to get them favor.

On my lv 20 'slathered with greensteels' monk(IE: immune to everything BUT apparently, death lol)

    Ya was kinda embarrassing.

Its funny when u think about the odds of it happening. Vorpal is on a 20 that confirms. Monk has over 65 ac. So they can ONLY hi ton a 20. So means that mob had to have rolled a 20 then confirmed that crit with yet another 20. 1 in 400(I think) Chance.

Except this, and lay living, fod, etc, you all get a save for, and as early as this and ds the save is so low all but the 6 wis barbs would fail. Vorpal doesn't have a save, if they confirm, your head goes a floppin!

I'm gonna roll a 1 on slay living spell about as often as they're going to roll a 20 on a vorpal strike

On an elite run of Invaders! for favor at lvl20, I once failed a PK from a hound. Rolled two 1's, one on disbelief, one on the second save.

To the OP/anyone else in need of DB: In the necropolis, you can get a Silver Flame Talisman by talking to this one guy across from the Tavern, getting a Silver Flame Nugget, and either running Bloody Crypt and touching the altar at the end, and then the Shadow Crypt and touching the altar at the end, or just Shadow Crypt twice. Also, Cursed Crypt and Ascension chamber altars.

It's a necklace so you can wear DB without using a robe/armor. You can also get Greater Ele Resistance on Cloaks or Rings (my Rogue has a full set of rings: Elecric, Acid, Sonic, and Ice. Fire is covered by Epic Vulkoorim Fighting Leathers. Very handy things).

Vorpal needs a camera effect ^^

Follows your head as it pops into the air a bit and goes rolling down to the floor... Your last view before the death effect screen takes over is your head slowly rolling to a stop.

    :P

some people said you need deathblock items (eg. silver flame talisman)wich is not true ! You need deathWARD to resist vorpals.

On my monk who has deathblock of everything robes but no death ward, I never noticed a vorpal running any of the quests mentioned here. Do you have any screen shots?

    Deathblock stops vorpal attacks

No it doesn't. Deathward stops magical and physical vorpal attacks, whereas Deathblock only stops magical.

Deathward: Grants an ally an immunity to death spells and effects (vorpals), energy drain, and negative energy effects.

Deathblock (item) stops vorpal attacks and instadeath spells.

Deathward (spell) stops vorpal attacks, instadeath spells, energy drain (like enervation or other negative levels), and negative energy effects (like harm).

This was my understanding as well.
