World English Dictionary
surreptitious (ˌsʌrəpˈtɪʃəs)
— adj
1. done, acquired, etc, in secret or by improper means
2. operating by stealth
3. characterized by fraud or misrepresentation of the truth
There was nothing covert about their entrance into the guild. They were invited, probably without any request or attempt to join in their own right.
This was not an infiltration. This was poor judgment upon the officers to invite said individual into the guild.
Don't blame others because of your guild's recruiting methods. Admit that some screening is needed. And certainly don't promote random people that you randomly recruited into your guild to officer status.
Instead of laying blame upon someone that "infiltrated" your guild, when no such infiltration occurred, you should be taking a long hard look at your recruiting process and the standards that need to be met to become an officer in your guild.
The first time it happened we all thought it was funny, because we were waiting for it to happen. We all knew it was coming. It was only a matter of time.
The second time it happened.... well.... that's just sad.

I'm not the guild leader of Epitaph. I'm not responsible for his actions.
You're talking about a recruiting process and standards, but the guy who infiltrated us is a member (probably officer or leader) of a lvl 60+ guild. That's what he said yesterday, when bragging about his knowledge of the game. "Ask me anything about any quest" " I know them all" "I solo epics" ...
This is infiltration: he was being normal and then suddenly showed his true facewasp.
I'm not saying the guild leader didn't make a mistake by promoting many people, just stating the facts.
The guy that ejected a bunch of you in July was almost certainly invited during your guild's mass blind invite phase.
The guy that ejected a bunch of members the other day , who had not logged on in months, was almost certainly invited during your guild's mass blind invite phase.
Neither of these are infiltration. Infiltration implies sneaking in. They didn't sneak in. They were invited.
If I were to find an officer and ask for an invite, with the plan to eject a bunch of members when I was promoted to officer, that would be infiltration.
If I was invited to the guild without any request from me, and THEN decided to do the same, that isn't infiltration. That's teaching a lesson.
.
Q&A is the business of pointing out others' failures. Optimists need not apply.
Ok, you're right I'm wrong.
Kicking new players from their guild because you want to give a lesson to the guild leader is making them love the game and not quit. They're thankful because vets teach them lessons and show how wise and mature they are.
Infiltration implies hiding. Hiding yourself or your intentions.
When cops infiltrate a group of individuals, they don't get into Sneak mode.
But that's exactly my point.
The cops go into the situation with the intent of doing so.
These guys were probably spammed a blind invite. They had no intentions of doing ANYTHING to your guild, but your guild opened the door for it.
With that in mind, it isn't infiltration. It's poor choices by the leadership. There's a HUGE difference.
.
Seems that a certain SPAMMER guild hasnt yet learned their lesson....
Somebody send Tot a note to roll up a new toon.....hes got work to do.

Repeat Offenders-Leader and currently only member woot!
Quazicotl, Quazihealz
Part of this can be tagged on poor requirements and decisions, but also, part of this can be blamed on the ****poor guild ranking system Turbine hasnt improved since they launched. One of the ONLY things they havent improved since launch yet, BTW.
Current system allows three ranks:
1) Guild Leader
2) Officers (Successor has exact same powers as Officers)
3) Members
So......a member who has no real power n the guild, gets power to destroy the guild with one rank increase.
This is not a good system, please see my thread about adding two new ranks: Senior member and junior officer, each with escalating powers and responsibility.
I honestly think this is the NEXT thing Turbine should update.

Just curious as to this "facewasp" word, would you enlighten me please?
If this guild has met its demise, I hope someone has come up with a clever way of memorializing the guild and what it stood for. What would we call that anyway?
Are you schizophrenic?
Or maybe you're a royal majesty ... are you?
Why should I trust you? How are you trustworthy? Its not fake. Why would I or should I keep screen shots? It did happen. Maybe you should not accuse people of being liars.
If you don't know facewasp then don't ask about it.Just curious as to this "facewasp" word, would you enlighten me please?
Thelanis - Inferus Sus
Keeper Refugee - Exclusively playing WarforgedNursing IsFutile (FvS) - Unorthodox Behaviour (Kensai) - Bigbofo (Warchanter) - Nukelear Blast (Sorc) - Jurugu Fleshbane (currently TRing) - Reviving IsCheaper (Radiant Blaster)
You dont need to trust me. It did happen. But last time I checked it was Epitaph that had a horrible rep on the server. So why should we trust you? Your guild has been proven to not be reliable or trustworthy. And your founding leaders were horrible. So pot calling the kettle black?
