    All of a Pally's good DPS abilities (ex. Divine Might, Exhalted Smite, Divine Sacrifice) only work in melee. So I wouldn't recommend going ranged on a Paladin.

    Please, don't try again. It is a total waste of time, not a good idea and whatever other negative things can be said but won't be because you probably thought it was.... Well, I don't know what you could have been thinking, maybe you weren't but you just needed to have fun on the forums.

    It isn't worth the time or effort to critique because there is nothing that can be done to fix the build, unless you count building a totally different type of character.

    Have to aggree with the other AA's an palis don't mix, at all...u can't smite with a bow...not to mention ur build has low dex an chars........bad idea dude.......but this is ddo u can make w/e u want....that build will just not be anygood at anything

    I find this build to be...ill-advised.

    • Pally abilities depend on CHA; so starting with base CHA 12 on a pure pally is not a good idea. If you actually have or expect to find a +4 CHA tome, you should be figuring out how to hit base CHA 20, not settling for 16.
    • A number of pally abilities only work with melee attacks: e.g., Smite Evil, Divine Sacrifice, Zeal, IIRC. So a ranged-focused pally is not a good idea.
    • Every time someone posts an AA build without Manyshot, a dolphin gets run over by a jet ski.
    • Base WIS 13 - uhh, why? You didn't take the monk dilly, so it provides no AC; it's easy enough to find items to boost WIS from base 8 to cast spells. Why make the MAD of this build harder than it already is?
    • DoS? Is this supposed to be some sort of ranged tank?

    I hate to tell people "your build sucks!" - but, umm, you should probably go back to the drawing board with this one and re-evaluate what you want to accomplish here.

    Switch to 20 ranger and give this a shot again. You'll also have a lot more feats for free, so more feat slots to work with. You also get a lot of important ones for free as a ranger and arcane archer IS technically a ranger prestige class. Don't forget to take Toughness. Er, and I wouldn't count on a Past Life feat just yet...

    MY elf ranger is level 16 i like range but elf is gimped so badly right now my ranger is awsome but if i get cornered my dps isn't enough to matter

    Most people fail to plan. As a result, they plan to fail. Only, they don't know it.

    Anyone planning an Arcane Archer MUST plan for those times when they are forced into melee. Unfortunately, that does not happen often enough.

    The result of this lack of planning is AA builds high in DEX but low in STR.

    If players were to plan they would build exactly opposite to this. STR would be high and DEX would be just enough to qualify the needed feats.

    The other issue with elves is their low CON. IMO that is used as an excuse by too many people. In the final analysis it is 20 HP difference compared to most other races.

    20 HP isn't trivial but it isn't enough in the long run to make a difference. Failing to plan CON is the other big failure of most AA builds.

    The last big failure is class selection. AA takes a lot of feats to make it work. So, players choose ranger in order to avoid the feat selections. Those that try to make AA work with other classes discover that they don't have enough feats to do anything than shoot arrows.

    The best AA builds recognize that fighter, because of its huge pool of bonus feats, is the correct base class. They only differ in how they splash to gain access to spell points in order to qualify for the AA PrE.

    I like to splash wizard because of the somewhat limited utility of their L1 spells. But, any casting class that gets spell points at L1 works (and, I am warming to bard). My own preference is fighter 18/ranger 1/wizard 1. But, I'm not all that imaginative.
