Default my character keeps randomly walking around when i'm not pressing any keys

I started playing DDO yesterday but today i'm having a problem with my character. I was walking to my next quest and my character starts spinning around or walking straight forwards without me pressing any keys. So i continue playing, but this has been happening to me all day. I've tried pressing different keys to try to stop my character from walking around randomly or in one direction but my character still does it. I dont think its lag since everything else around me acts normal, and its really annoying when i'm trying to fight enemies then my character starts randomly walking around making me not be able to fight them properly. Anyone know how to fix this problem?

Do you have one of those mice that is bristling with buttons? I found out that the pre-assigned mouse button for "auto run" was right next to my thumb... by accident

Go into the Key Mapping of the options, and make sure you know what buttons will cause you to enter auto-run.

Its part of the social upgrade of player AI - its an attempt to get players out of the Lobster and out playing the actual game

Alternatively - you looking at a npc character - you're actually the one next to that guy..

    OT:
I'd check as noted for wierd keymapping (Have you changed the defaults?)
Are you using PC hardware that a bit different than basic 2 button mouse/keyboard etc?
Note the default 'autorun' key is R - are you hitting that by accident?
Using wireless mouse or keyboard? (Batteries might be low) and so on..
Some more info might help if your issue remains..

actually, I've had a similar problem, one that you mentioned... where every once in a while, my character starts spinning in place. The funny thing about it, is I'm the only one that sees my character spinning. The person I run with, doesn't see me spinning on his monitor, I know, because I've asked him.

I usually have to completely quit the game, then start it back up again, and that usually fixes the problem... until the next time it happens! I've also noticed that the spinning in places ONLY happens in quests. I've NEVER had a problem when out in Marketplace, or the Harbor... but at somepoint during my play session I end up spinning in place. It happens almost every game session too. It's very annoying! lol

Yes, that particular key mapping makes for some exciting times.

I have had the same spinning problem...instead of exiting the game try this: Click on the main menu button and choose help...then choose track a ticket at the bottom. this should stop your spinning and you can close out the help box and continue questing. Works for me every time, I don't know why just hat it does.

The "spinning" can be cause by a wireless keyboard and having the signal interupted momentarily. Happens to me alot, especially when the battery is running low (interference from other devices can do this too). Re-pressing the key for the direction of the movement solves it right up for me.

Misassigning movement commands to your mouse could do it too.

If it's a wired keyboard, try not eating and drinking stuff over it

When this happened to me using a Microsoft Reclusa gaming keyboard I assumed it was either a driver issue or hardware fault that the direction key would sometimes stick (not physically but the game would behave in this manner). It happened rarely but when it did by not pressing keys and allowing any buffer to flush it would stop of it's own accord after a few seconds.

I have since moved to a plain USB keyboard and have not suffered any repeats of this issue.

Check you have latest drivers if you have a gaming keyboard; plug it into another USB port or switch keyboards if it happens enough to spoil gameplay.

You may have a sticky key. Re-clicking that particular turn button works for me in this situation.

Fear not good sir, you have found one of the little known sub-routines that the Devs have placed in the program.

If you look carefully it will also be randomly spamming one particular key on hotbar 1. On Divines this key corresponds with Mass Heal

You have found the piking subroutine to Reavers Fate
