    Default Ioun stone price check

Hello, I'm a brand new player and I found a "Vibrant Purple Ioun Stone" today in waterworks. I wasn't sure what it was for so i asked in advice channel and people started offering me, what seems like a fortune, to a new player. But someone else advised me to post it on here and ask for advice, hence this thread. people have offered from 800plat, saying that it was worthless, up to 500,000 plat from a very nice lvl 20.

Might there be anyone who could clear this up for me? I don't fully understand what it is that i have nor what it is truly worth.

    Thanks,
    ~Inky

2 mil plat easy. You might be able to get more if you auction it properly.

I feel a tad overwhelmed... But am more than happy to sell it, if thats what it's worth. Should i start an auction thread, and let the highest bidder take it? or should i just settle up right now? Two mil is so high i can't think straight right now.

What you have is probably the single most sought-after item that you could possibly pull in a low level quest.

I managed to get mine on Argonessen for about 1.5 million plat worth of traded items and I think I got an *outstanding* bargain to have paid that.

One word of caution - that item will bind to your character if you equip it, so be sure to not equip the item and PLEASE do not take less than 1 million in plat or 1 million plat-equivalent in items. After you have an offer that you like, post it up on the forums and folks will let you know if the person who you made the trade with is trying to scam you before you complete the trade.

Here are a few items that could be *part* of a deal for your Vibrant Purple Ioun Stone with Suppressed Power. NONE of these is worth as much as what you currently hold.

    Firestorm Greaves
    Bloodstone
    Planar Gird
Lesser or Greater Heart of Wood (used for Reincarnation)
    lots and lots of plat

You may want to edit out the name in your post, can garner some unwanted attention from the mods. But great pull and smart move coming here first.
There is no lag. Just because you had none before and can't play now doesn't mean the server move had anything to do with it.

thanks Biggin, like i said i'm new, but i took it out, I don't want to do something that would get me in trouble.

So how should i go about auctioning off this item? Someone mentioned to me the AH, and someone else said to just wait until someone sends me a private message. suggestions?

The AH will take a 30% cut of what you'd make. And with what you have that is a LOT.

Now.. the trick is, if you are f2p you have a limit as to how much gold/plat you can actually carry. You may agree to the sum of 2 mill plat from someone, but you won't be able to store it.

You may want to keep the "selling" limited to the forums and get gear instead.

As you are a new player.. you may want to request weapons that will be good for you in the long run. Large sacks (if you are into collectables or gems. Mind you gems are only worth money currently.) and gear that could be useful like firestore greaves, bloodstones, spectral gloves, ring of the djinn, stat items. Crafted up SoraKell items/weapons.

Oh yeah, and be certain to make sure you'd add to it 1 collasped hole and 10,000 plat per character. (150 coin lord favor, and the two above to unlock another character bag.) I suggest this just because you are a new player.

Thats good advice. so it seems the AH is a bad idea. and I am a vip, someone made a very compelling argument for me to go vip the day i first played, so i did. lol. At least I have done that one thing right. For now i'm still getting used to the gameplay and haven't gotten a character to a high level, so i think plat would be an ok medium for me to grow into... Heh, still feel like i won the lottery or something.

Good advice on the AH, same I gave the OP ingame

I spoke to you ingame after you mistelled in general, maybe you still remember Will send you a few collasped holes later today. I have plenty of those, freebie, so don't worry about those.

If you're new to the game, I would wait till you know what is what. I am sure the few items mentioned in this thread doesn't mean anything to you yet. And at low level a lot of plat looks very tempting but knowing what char you play, you will make enough gold soon anyway. Don't go for lowbie gear though, that would be such a waste of your precious

Or, you might consider putting it into the bank and save it for yourself... as stated it is one of the most sought after items in the game ATM... Have you looked at why this is yet? It might be worth holding onto for a bit before you sell it... better that than months down the road regret not having kept it.

Wow, thanks lekkus and yes i remember talking to you. I don't know what a collapsed portable hole is, but if you think i can use it, i'll bow to your better judgement. It may sound strange, but I'm actually kind of creeped out about this million platinum thing in my bank slot. I keep being worried that i'm going to accidently sell it or even worse equip it. I think, for my nerves sake, id like to get rid of it as quickly as possible.

Agreed, that is why I said go for gear that will last for a while. Sounds like you've got his back. Cool deal.

First I would make sure the stone has suppressed power. I am pretty sure all the new pulls do, but I don't know for sure. If it is, then you have a bank or two right in your pocket.

If you do decide to trade it, I would hit ddowiki for each and every item offered to you and find out what they are and how they can help your character(s) progress. Make sure to note minimum level.

Higher end players tend to count currency in items like scales, large ingredients, etc. If these get offered, just note that while you can't use them right away, they generally are harder to grind then items that would benefit you even up to 15th or so level. Getting those will definitely make it easier later on.

    Good pull.

As long as you don't have the platinum limit, I would just take platinum for it. It will allow you to then buy whatever you feel necessary as you level up.

The best way to sell it is to make a new post in the marketplace and state that it is for sale and that bids will be accepted for the next 5 days (or 3 days, whatever you want). Have people bid, in platinum only, in the thread, or via private message. At the end of your x number of days sell it to whomever has made the highest bid.

For reference I have bought two of these on Ghallanda, one I paid 1.25 M plat, the other I paid 5 devil scales (equivalent to 1.5M plat). They are highly sought after, but not as high as the pale lavender. They are amazing for TRs between levels 5 and 13, but outgrow their uberness fairly quickly.

    *Edit
It would be worth making note of the people who tried to lowball you. These people are trash and should be squelched so you don't make the mistake of interacting with them in the future. You may wish to share their names with your friends and guildies as well (though don't post them on the forums, that's a no-no).

If you need lowbie gear send me a PM with your character class, level, and name, I don't play much on Thelanis anymore and can see what I can dig up. Better the stuff goes to use.
Please split the class forums into REAL subcategories this is a jumbled mess.

    .
My double TR cleric wears his at cap still. I like the spell pen 9 and archmagi in that slot personally.

Good pull OP, and smart move coming to the forums to check the value before getting ripped off by jerks trying to lowball you like crazy.

When I got mine, I traded a pale lavender + 1 large stone for it. I had WAY more use for the vibrant than I did for the pale lavender so for me it was an excellent trade.

    GL with your trade.

If I was you id set up an auction for it on the forum (here) and see what offers you get .

Also if you select an item in your inventory , then click on the little padlock under where the items are stored it will stop you accidently vendoring it . When you come to trade it/sell it you will need to unlock it by clicking on the padlock again .

First lock it in your inventory (click the lock thing so it can not be sold) then put it in the bank and wait til you cap at least 1 character before you sell.

This will allow you to learn what its value actually is, as well as finding out if you will ever use it yourself. I know people who gave away bloodstones because they pulled one on the first run through the desert, only to NEVER pull another. There are players who will pull good loot all the time (and if you pull another one, sell it and keep one), and there are those who hit paydirt only once in a blue moon.

So best advice is to save it, don't worry about money, etc. at your level, you can get by just fine without it.

Don't be nervous and get rid of it too soon. If it's in your bank and not in your pack it's safe and won't be accidentally equipped. Lots of good advice in this thread, you have something of high value and you can afford to take time to decide what to do with it.

Unless they change the minimum level on it in the next update of course.
