How do you get rid of lag causes by switching out gear for something that has clickies on? Anyone else getting it and how can you fix it?

I'm not entirely sure what you are experiencing is lag.
Lag is an unintentional delay caused by a low internet speed or the server's computer (or your computer) slowing down.
If you change armour in order to gain access to a clickie on another suit of armour, for example, there is a delay to represent the time to take off, or put on, a complex piece of protection. The lighter the armour, by class, the quicker it takes, with robes being the fastest.
This is not lag, this is an in-game delay to model the change over.
Clickies also have timeouts, to pace the speed at which they can be activated. Again this is not lag, instead it is an in-game feature.

If you can do other things, in-game, while a clock-face progressing across the clickie icon then it not lag, just a time out.
The reason? DDO is partially turn-based so, even though combats essentially happen in real-time, there is a pace to the game.
The time outs are there for balance.

Nah, he is talking about lag.
I noticed on my paladin when exchanging back and forth to chaosblades. As soon as you equip those you should get a neg level.
After some time and a lot of switching the stuff got lagged; i pressed the weapon set, the model of the weapon changed, wait, wait, wait for like 10 secs then the neg level. No moving/casting/fighting in this window as well.
1) Both my rig and my connection would be able to run 10 instances of ddo without problem.
2) Relog fixes it.
But annoying as hell tho.
Thats the only fix I know of. Pretty sure its part of the memory leak issue. On a fresh load up, I can cycle through whatever clickies I want, shift gear, etc. After a few hours though, it gets pretty bad. Ran an Invaders elite a bit ago, got to beholders and went to toss on my Talisman...bad idea. :3 Good 5-8 seconds later the screen unfroze to my ghost and stone sitting there. Notice it bad with weapon sets as well. :/
I notice it most often when swapping gear that changes my UMD score.
Cha items, Cartouche, Command, etc.
If it changes my UMD score, I get a split second of lag. It's almost as if changing gear that raises or lowers UMD forces an automatic recheck of every single item equipped to see if I meet the reqs, even if I don't have any gear on that requires a UMD check.
.
we need more phone booths in storm reach so our toons can zip in and change out of their clark kent get up into their super outfits..
I notice it the most in epics when I'm switching from my GS to my Dreamspitter. It's is def lag, your whole screen freezes and you can't do anything for a few seconds. If i'm lucky it's only a 2-3 second delay, but I've had it up to like 10 seconds before and I come back from it dead. As suggested previously, relogging is the only thing that seems to help, but it only helps for a little bit, then back to the lag again.

I just login to chat for a while and never ever switch gear.
I havent had many issues with lag since I changed my gametime to this format.
Happens for example when trying to use the bauble when running out of sp.
You need it in a hurry, knowing the casting time is long, yet no matter how much you click on the bauble it is not swapped in inmediately but 'appears to lag'.
And once the delay is over the clicky is still not activated so you need to click it again to cast the spell.
That bauble of course works best when kept worn, yet u can have other trinkets to have always on.
Another u want to have asap is the pendant of time, to use right as you leave quest or log in.
But it takes some moments to swap in before you can click and before the actual casting time.
Those are two trinkets with clickies, but swapping dusk heart and bloodstone don't have that delay, for example.
Robes with clickies don't have that delay either, rings and hats might have a small one but not as bad as trinkets.
I'd go with the relog suggestion. I've noticed this and it only seems to happen after being logged in for a long time and having done a few character/zone/equipment changes. For me seems worse on any gear that causes and equip graphic (ie, a resist item shows the purple shield appear on the character) to happen, but will happen on weapons too after long enough. Restarting the client clears it up for a good while, it's probably a memory leak issue.
To me it happens mostly with stat-changing items, and can last a goodly while. Most noticeably the disjunction balls in dq1. You hit one of those, you can lock up for 5-10sec if yer lucky, or after a marathon gaming with multiple character swaps, we timed it to almost 2min before I found out I was dead in the lava.
It IS a game/client issue, and yes... some items will give you a few seconds every time and will get worse as they go, but restarting is the only method I've found to help.

My guess is that the original game code can no longer handle all the stuff in the game now. This sounds like database fetch problems. There shouldn't be mem leaks after switching one or two times. Lots of poorly written code that never gets fixed properly. Lots of patches that don't address the root problems

U7 and even more so U8 are when things really started to bog down. I think there is also a code unification problem. For instance, the breastplate of destruction from the hound, ugly ugly ugly. People complained and the devs changed the appearance. Then an update or two later, it changed back to it's original ugly. Maybe I missed some discussion of this, but I think it was just lost from a version merge that never looked at again. My client crashes now so often I always restart the game after 2 toon changes... so annoying.
