    Default Threat Reduction

I have read mixed feedback in the Rogue forums regarding if Tharnes stacks with ASS3 TOD set. Would someone confirm or deny?

How are your STR based rogues mitigating threat? What is your gear layout?

I have Tharnes set, could also equip ASS3 TOD set, have Diplomacy max'd and on hot bar, and Subtle BackStabbing Line. I haven't used Treason in ages.

    Thanks!

My guess is threat reduction from items do not stack with each other.

    I cannot prove that, however.

truth be told, pretty much everything related to threat is speculation.

my personal speculation is that only different values of threat reduction from gear stacks. ie 10% stacks with 20%, but having two 20% reductions won't work.

i say this because that's how healing amp is understood to work.

but again, that's all speculation. there is a request out for the devs to give us more information about threat mechanics so that we can test if it's working properly, but so far i believe we're still waiting on that (i think they've indicated it will happen at some point, we just don't know when)

I have 30% reduction from SBIII and 20% from Tharne's Wrath. It's usually sufficient for me, even strength-based and with Sneak of Shadows running.

The only place I find myself taking aggro consistently is in places where the party is a bit split up and the heavy threat guys aren't beating on the same mobs I am. The lieutenants in elite shrouds are where I notice it the most. With just 3-4 people beating on one of them, I'll pull aggro immediately unless one is a thread multiplier type.

I've never pulled Horoth or Suulo aggro unless the tank died.

As far as how threat works, the devs did confirm that threat stacks multiplicatively. So instead of adding your threat reduction and subtracting from 100%, you multiply your threat and then subtract from 100% to find your reduction. So I've got 70% * 80% = 56% threat or 44% reduction.

Devs have said both Multiplicative and Additive in regards to threat reduction.

    Additive Post (more recent)

    http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php...n+stack&page=2

    Multiplicative Post

http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=192322 (it will link you to this Podcast - 21:27 is the time code where they talk about multiplicative threat reduction stacking)

Either way, they do stack. There is no current minimum threat reduction in the game. I currently run either -80% or -64% threat depending on the stack method. I only pull threat on the last boss of ECoF since I'm generally the only one able to hit him. Probably too much threat reduction for the standard run. I'll be dumping 20% of my threat reduction when I get the proper gear.
