Maximum party/group size

Not counting hirelings and/or summoned creatures, just actual players...what is the maximum number of players in one group? (I've looked all over the place and can't find it, I would appreciate it if anyone can tell me.)

6 in quests, 12 in raids.

To convert from party to raid, party leader right-clicks on any party member, selects the option to switch from Party to Raid.

Hirelings count as part of this.
