But you are correct that some spells are only available to wizards while levelling up, or by finding a scroll in chests. For example, dim door scrolls can not be bought at vendors.

A wise practice for wizards is that, before levelling up, they buy all the scrolls available at vendors for their next spell level and inscribe them. They won't show up in your spell book, but honest they are there! Then, when you go to level up you are only presented with the option of picking from spells that you can't inscribe from vendor scrolls, reducing the chance you might miss some important spell. After levelling up all those pre-inscribe spells show up.
Awesome dude, thanks for the great advice. +1

Key Words [Wizard, Rogue, 32pts, Archmage, Warforged]

    Objectives
A cheap build for farming. I want to spend the least gold and platinum possible to reach level 20 to farm items for other character/builds.

Summary Haves (Posted here only to indicate what I have access to, not what I want for the build)
    - Drow
    - Warforged
    - 28 pt build
    - 32 pt build
    - Ability to change feats (limited)
    - Ability to change enhancements

    Summary Have-Nots
    - Gear farmed from a higher level character <- That's what this guy is for!!!!

    Design
The point of this character was to be self sufficient, including self-healing, with the least drain on current/future resources, allowing it to farm nearly anything/anywhere. (within reason... I did say "nearly") I don't want to be a drain on party resources either, as it's not my goal to take from others, but to earn from the game, and give to other characters.

I was suggested in my Warforged Sorcerer Build to make a Warforged Wizard Archmage Build.
In my Warforged Wizard Archmage Build, I was suggested to make a Warforged Wizard Archmage with a splash of Rogue Build.

I felt that posting this build on the other thread would be cumbersome. So here it is.
And yes, the Warforged Wizard Archmage Build is still being worked on as I'm undecided which of the two Warforged Wizard builds I'm going to chose yet. 90% sure this is the one I'm going with.

Editor's Notes: I've added SF: Evo line for SLA: MM which will help save on spell points.
Changed upped the feats to get Maximized closer to Firewall without slowing AM enhancements, and changed Insightful Reflexes to allow the character to take less damage from an earlier level. (Needed as lack of toughness & con enhancements make for less hp.)
I'm assuming a level 1 or 2 tome of int by level 11, at least from 1750 favor.
Pretty sure this is final edit.

How close is the final build to this? I'm looking to run a very similar if not identical concept. I like the idea of SLA Web though. Can this build have both web and mm?

My build is similiar to this also, 2/18 rogue wizard warforged, and i do love it. I miss the level 20 capstone, but being able to search and disarm is very nice to have, along with the basic evasion.

I focused on fire/cold boosting along with force/repair. I picked up magic missile/gust of wind/chain missiles and magic bolt. Having those 3 force spells to blast foes with is great for those long dungeons without draining sp fast. I have my firewalls/ice storms/etc for tight spots with large groups of foes that my wail of banshee won't handle. I wouldn't just take 1 magic missile enhancement because its very slow in refreshing. having all 3 of those force spells lets you blast away with minimal delay.

I have items with +15 search/disarm that i switch out when i'm needed to be the trap disarmer. With your high int, often you are better with search/disarm than the rogues, you won't have trouble. Again as a wizard you are squishy and that rogue evasion has saved me a lot of damage over the course of adventuring.. when your running about in quests and you start seeing the saved...saved...saved.. you will love it.

You'll get your 9th level spells, especially banshee and mass hold monster, you won't be as good with them as archmages focused in those fields, but they still will work on most foes in normal adventuring.

im running one of these at present as my main after a server swap and am very please at both playability and survivability, one thing i was very surprised at was Maximise affects the SLA magic missile but sill only costs 1 point

Just a quick question, is it possible and if so what happens if you've already inscribed enough spells, such that when you go to level up you can't choose the required number of spells? Are you prevented from leveling?

    A) You can inscribe spells that are not the level you are advancing to (previous levels) while leveling.
    B) There are many spells that can't be bought via the vendors. You could buy them from the AH, and then actually have no spells to inscribe...but more than likely you would not.
    C) I really don't know the answer to your question...but it is a good one. I would never pay to memorize Detect Invisible or Daze, or several other crappy spells, so I have never had this problem. I would hope the Dev's have built this in, but I would never count on it.

So I was following this build and update 9 hit. Did it mess with the AP by chance? If so, what do I do now? Kinda lost at the moment.

Yeah, update 9 really messed with my AP. Unfortunately, Norton says that the 3.9.1 Character Builder has a trojan in it. So I'm a little stuck right now myself. When I can update it, I will.

    People still use that? :O
Norton will give you tonnes of false positives (like in this case) and it's really not very reliable, you should get a better one. My personal favorite is Microsoft Security Essentials, works well and it's free.

As for the new version of the planner; been using it for a while now, it's safe.

Take toughness feat at lvl 1 instead of insightful reflexes (you don't need that) this will maximize your hit points and at end game it is critical to have at least 224+ hit points to survive.

Take Healers friend at lvl 1 instead of rogue skill boost.

Also u only need points in concentration, search, umd, disable device, and a little in spot skills. U don't need open lock as u have knock spell which does the same thing. Forget balance too.

I know this thread has been inactive for a while, I just wondered how it worked out for you. Did you make it to 20? Do you like the build? How do you like being a toaster?

I did Rogue at level 1 for the 4x skill points and then I took my second level of Rogue at 9, because I wanted to get Wall of Fire as soon as possible.

If I were to do it over again, I might wait until Reconstruct for my second level of Rogue, but I'd probably just scroll Reconstruct and be happy with my Evasion at level 9 or 11.

Edit: Apparently, my brain read 11-18-11 instead of 1-18-11 on djhoerauf's post.

LOL - almost the same date right? Hardly any difference at all!

I'm thinking the same as you though, get wall of fire, then evasion, then reconstruct. I like to tell myself I wouldn't be taking that much damage that I'd need reconstruct right then Wall of fire is just too much fun though.
