    Default New player (Monk)

I would really appreciate any help I could get here.

I have the 32 build, new account, and Monk unlocked, years of D&D experience, but little MMO and DDO experience.

What I want, is a Dwarf Monk (Light), with either massive survivability or DPS (if possible). I have read tons of posts, but nothing really sat with what I wanted.

I would like a semi-solo Str or Dex, Con and Wis build. Something that take take and hit and keep on ticking, while able to kill almost everything in the long run.

I don't know the game overtly well, but well enough. So, please just give me options, and a build I can work with, thanks.

    Hi, there.

The best route for you is to consider the Harmonious Path feat option--known here at the "light monk." It's a build that has many aspects of a cleric (mass heals, buffs, remove curses, blindness and can even raise dead), while also (with the Shintao Monk enhancements) becoming a dangerous fighter that specializes in banishing and killing Outsiders and undead. It is a powerful fighter that can solo much of the entire game.

See the DDO Wiki article on Starting a Monk here. I've recently updated it with Update 8 material and will also tell you some equipment that can help. It's one of DDO's most complex classes to play because of the button mashing, so macro keyboards, shortcuts and keypads will help.

I'm going to TR my monk in2 a build I kno u will like, not perfected yet so I'm not gonna post it but it outlines a couple of main things I know you will love. The playstyle involves high ki input + high healing amp + light moves = self sufficent boss that smashes everything. UMD is an optional but is highly recommended because charisma is too and there is no reason why NOT to take it.

It involves human or half elf but dwarf will work great because of his tactical enhancements but it gets tight on the skill points as you level and I have no idea what the dwarf's negative stat is if they have one. I wont give you specifics but I'll give you a rough outline.

Stats: Of course the basics, str, con, slight Dex to get to 18 to get GTWF, wis is unfortunately a dump stat, charisma... wait charisma? Yes (I feel soo stupid as I'm talking to myself right now). A light shinato monk gets kukan-do as a stun and this a will save and uses charisma modifier and full monk level instead of half. It also takes benefit from stunning wraps so as you can imagine besides the slightly longer cooldown that this should be utilized as it is very end game viable. Cool down shouldn't be a problem though because strength will be very high and stunning blow will be taken and used against casters who suck at fort and kukan do at mobs whose will saves suck so bad it will surprise you. Exaggeration used but you get my point. This "outline" isn't easy though and you probably have to LR and monks being the hardest class makes it even worse but don't worry, ur past experience should hopefully help you out.

Dwarf feats will help your stunning blow and whatever else it helps but the basics are 1. Heal amp at least over 200% some enhancements, items, and others will help you achieve to reach full survivability potential. 2. High str to fend off the mobs so you don't have to heal as much, fire stance 24/7 as you will soon figure out why (more ki). 3. UMD is optional but very helpful. Don't go halfway with it and decide you don't need it, that will ruin you, make a decision and stick with it because I guarantee blur scrolls will save your life since your AC is laughable.
