    Default Applying burst to wraps?

Hey guys, I saw in another thread that people were applying Force Burst Crit and Icy burst onto their stunning handwraps. I see how to do the force crit, but how/where are you getting the icy burst.

I have +2 Holy Burst of Stunning +6 and force crit and icy burst on them would be sweet.

It's a risa ice games crafting ritual. You collect coins to get motes, recipes, and other junk from jack frost. The recipe is Winter Recipe 5/20 and can only be received by turning in a purple coin, the rarest one, to jack frost. You have to do the cold touch ritual and frost ritual before (Recipes 3/20 and 4/20) being able to do the frost burst ritual on any randomly generated item. If this item has any frost related damage bonus to it (frost or frost burst) it'll replace that with the new bonus. And sometimes the bottom of the description will say error, but don't worry the weapon still does your frost damage.

Icy Burst is expensive and or time consuming to acquire, I personally would not icy burst stunners unless they were stunning +10s'. Frost is much easier to get, so I put it on a lot of stuff.

recipe 5# is pretty easy to get with a capped monk when compared to other classes.

If you jump off the 1st ramp in the harbor and hook a left and abundant step a couple of times you can get a purple without bothering with any of the other ramps.

I icy bursted a bunch of wraps.

I particularly like the force burst, force critical, icy burst of stunning +8

(not +10 but as a minimum level 20 wrap they would have to be RR to get that)

Getting purples is no guarantee as I've traded in over 200 of them in the past 2 games and not gotten even one recipe 5. Finally had a guildy give me one after he traded in about 50 purples and got 3 and felt sorry for me.

On the other hand, if you do get one I would seriously consider what you put it on.

If you are going for an end game monk and will be running ToDs to get your rings you will probably put Holy Burst and Shocking Burst on them. Since these effects will apply to your unarmed damage but will not stack with like bursts on the wraps themselves you might want to consider applying only frost to any that have those two effects already. Regular Holy/Shock on the wraps will stack but not the burst effects.

Thundering, Force Burst or Flaming Burst of +10 stunning would probably be the ones you want to apply Icy Burst to in that case as you will get crits more often which will make the expense of the icy burst worth it. Throw force or force crit from the Alter of Change rituals on them and you have some serious damage dealers for stunned/held monsters.

I have a pair of Flaming Burst + Icy Burst + Force Crit +10 Stunners that I use on the majority of non-boss content as I have a high DC stunning fist so I can create auto-crit situations on most mobs (pretty much everything except elementals as they cannot be stunned) even into Amrath. I just need to get my ToD rings loaded out to complete the package.

Icy burst may be tempting on lower level wraps, but unless you're lucky and get more than you know what to do with, I think you should hold out for higher level wraps and apply it to those. The lower levels fly by so quickly that you might find yourself outgrowing your wraps as you get some good ones from running higher level content. It may seem like it will take forever, but if the majority of your levels are monk and you have the option set for end rewards based on class, you will soon get a good collection of wraps that you can use through end game and those would be worth throwing Icy Burst on.

Not always true for everybody, this certainly wasn't the case for me. I traded in around... jeez 50? and got 4 of em. Once i found out the trick to doing the jump (no special trick, i really just got into a groove with 50 jump, monk slow fall, and haste clicky) i mined tons of purples and got 4 recipes. Used 1 and sold 3 and made lots of cash XD.

But seriously i really don't think this situation is gonna happen often after trading in over 200 of them and not getting one recipe. If you have house P favor and get the 30 min jump buff and have haste clicky and abundent step ready, you'll get it every time. Just concentrate on making each jump and if you mess up? Use abundent step, it saved me tons of time. Its highly unlickly you'll have as bad of luck as the guy above. And whoever was talking about level 20 stunning +10... what are you talking about? I'm a level 16 currently and have Stunning + 10 on me, wish i used icy burst on them but oh well, can't be helped.

Edit: Are you sure they were all purple? 200 purple seems like tons to me and by that time you can sell them all and buy your recipe and have cash to spare, and make sure they were purple because blue and white woun't get you any recipe 5/20. Lets see... 200 purple sold for around 10k plat each minus the tax, around 6k plat then, equals 1200k plat... subtract 200k for a crazily overpriced recipe and you're desperate (impossible, just doing it and being unrealistic in my price) and you have... 1 mil plat left, wow not a bad amount of cash sitting in your bank.
