I don't have a zerging problem.
I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.
I got a tell to post a response in this tread, im not in the guild but I am a healer.
It would depend on the guild and the tone. I know I have been in situations where nobody online has a healer they can switch to, or else we need something else more (such as a competent arcane for ToD) and would feel better pugging a healer for the spot.
There has been a bad trend lately though where I have been asked if I want to join a raid even though I am either already in a raid or in a group, or on another toon. They ask me to switch to my healer to run with them, because when I want to play my healer... I am obviously going to be on my arcane!

I would get a lot of random invites like that when I was on my favored soul life. Sometimes I'd be soloing stuff and an invite would pop on my screen. Not even a tell first sometimes, but when they did ask AND then send an invite I would usually reply "No, cause you ****ed up my mouse look mode", true story.
I'm pretty sure I'm not in the OP's guild... so the question is, do you really want me posting as my healer? She can get pretty crankyI hope you all brought pots to this thread!
Seriously tho, I don't know which guild(s) are in question here, hopefully not mine... but as someone who heals more than her fair share of quests/raids/epics and frequently swaps to healers even when I really want to run another class... well there are just times when both my healers are on timer, or I really do want to run another class and noone else can or will swap out, so we have to wait forever in an LFM for some nice healer to respond. Not sure what my point is here, except that it would be lovely if everyone had a healer and ran it sometimes to give their favorite healers a turn to run their other alts.

I am not a Sarlona player, but I know my guild usually fills first on whos available, then decide who will run what characters. As far as guild runs in the LFM, its just a tool to use so you don't have to wonder if you miss someone from Guild Chat saying they wanted to join. Just say "Shroud LFM up", put your Guild in it, then if there are spots open, pug them out.
I enjoy playing my healer for everything. It doesn't bother me to run with other guilds as long as I get my play time in. I find myself flattered when I get a tell from friends or strangers asking me to attend their EPIC run. When I have an "Elixir Enriched" completion, I politely ask all in the group to email me a donation. I recognize the risks when pugging and just enjoy the game fail or not. So to answer the OP: Don't run it if you don't want to, however, have the courtsey to let them know that you appreciate the offer. After all, they took the time to send you a Tell. Perhaps they recognize your skill as a healer and want to ensure success. Thats my Two Honest Abes

I dont think the issue is running a healer in a pug. The issue is that the op feels that people are taking advantage of others. As in the lfm goes up and its guild only. Nobody can join. Once all the melee and caster spots are filled, the guild doesnt have a healer to heal the group, and they start looking to others.
I dont disagree either. I think if your ok with pugging a healer, whats wrong with pugging a melee or caster. If its guild only, get a guild healer, if its not guild only, let pugs in on their melee.

heck, if you want to do the raid, then do it...if not, don't.
Personally, I am not a fan of blind tells from people who have an LFM up...it is redundant and annoying.
I don't mind blind tells from friends and guildies who need someone.
the lfm is there, why would they need to send you a tell?
guild runs are usually better than pugs...in some cases, in others not...
just tell them no, however, since their LFM specifically says guild only. If they were looking for healers and not just guild only, it would say that.
sounds like a fun guild.

I was just going to type basically what you typed, when I saw that you already typed it. I have witnessed this several times in different raids / quests, with different melee toy being pulled by healer who swapped out from a melee. Entitlement complex are systematically revealed and make their way to the surface when these types of things happen. I love it.
p1. Who wants to swap to their healer?
everyone: /crickets chirping.
p1. Aw come on, I know someones got a healer here.
p2. Ok Ill grab mine, the name is _______________. /logs out
p2 is invited back on their healer, raid is beaten etc.
p2. Hey awesome, I pulled an SOS. /loots
everyone: /hilarity ensues about the level of sin that has just been witnessed - healer pulling AND looting an SOS.

Why are people getting so hung up on replying to tells?
And let's be honest the vast majority of tells a cleric gets has nothing to do with your gaming ability....those are normally reserved for the chat channels everyone seems to be in these days. Tells come from Leaders and sometimes just people in the group scouring the who panel for anyone who is not group....but even sometimes grouped. 99% of the time it has nothing to do with the renown people think they have as Healers....let's get a grip.
I have two healers and planning on making a 3rd strictly for the fact we are a small guild that raids alot and groups with healers in them fill faster. I PUG every raid I'm in so that's not the issue either.
Just seems odd a "Guild Only" group can't find a guild healer.
No I don't wear a Concordant Opp item on my Barb...but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. Zixx of the FlatBlade(Barb)
It seems if a guild wanted to complete their raids more frequently, quicker, and with a higher success rate then they would roll, gear, and teach guild healers... Maybe thats a crazy idea though ignore me.
I agree.
Seems that the guilds that do this are never the strong guilds. Now dont get me wrong....its not about size....it is all about ability. Some do......others post up LFMs trying to make it appear they can.
I would run from a guild wanting me to get a healer if they cant bring their own.
In fact....if i was running short of healers...i would get my guildies or myself and we would supply the healer.....healing is usually too important to farm out...and when things go pear shaped....i would rather depend and owe my guildies then a pugger....they may not have the resources.....and any guild worth its salt will have the resources and members with the resources.
Definitely a sign of a less than strong guild.
I can only think of one EW raid that I personally participated in where two healer spots were pugged out. I did not enjoy seeing that. I'm pretty sure we ended up regretting it when we found out how atrocious they really were.
(Btw, Divine does not count as "Pugging")
Blind tells are annoying, but they don't really deserve a response unless you feel like responding. I sort of look at them like telemarketers. I would never abruptly hang up on a friend of mine on the phone, but I hang up instantly on telemarketers every single time.
And put whatever you want in your LFM's. People will respond, or not, as the case may be. It sort of works itself out in the end, really.
An LFM that says 'taking any, last 5 spots then we roll' will fill up quickly.
An LFM that says 'Neutral Good Halfling Cleric with Improved Sunder only need apply' will fill up very slowly indeed.
