Default A BETTER Armor Customization System. More profitable too...

So, basically scrap what you have right now and follow a template:

Two great systems here for you:

System #1 {Crafting Based} : Add an item to the game that allows you to put any two armors, shields, helmets, cloaks(plz, waited long enough...), and swap the appearance(or stats, whatever is easier to code). Through that, you need only find what armor you really want to wear, and then can swap it's appearance to armor with the stats you want.

System #2 {Appearance Tab} : Add an Appearance Tab to inventory - A tab that swaps you to a different gear layout with fully customizable appearance options. You can put any armors, helmets, shields, cloaks(plz, srsly). And that will be what you appear to wear, but you keep the stats from the primary layout.

Both systems will allow you to keep selling custom looks in your DDO Store for outrageous prices, and will also let everyone have a go at customizing the way they want. I favor system #1, as you can work armor dye's into it more easily.

With all the effort and time that was invested in the new armor skins, I don't think that Turbine would scrap it. Truth be told some of the skins are actually kinda nice and some folks like them.

That said, I totally agree it isn't really 'customization'. There is absolutley no harm in keeping the current armor 'kits' for sale in the DDO Store, BUT they should also sell a 'tailor' service as well - for the vast majority of the player base which wants REAL customization control of their outerwear. Something like this:http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=291577.

It would be easy enough to put us in a screen similar to the character creation screen where we could zoom in and out while picking individual pieces of armor/robes/outfits and coloring each to make up a full 'suit' of clothing (armor) to OUR liking.

I would say this would make big money for Turbine (while still making money on armor kits because they are unique unto themselves).

They can convert the armor kits to decorative armors that would work for either system.

    I like the armors...

    I HATE THE COLOURS!

I would totally buy whats there if i could custom colour it.

I don't mind the armor skins that much, now saying that I don't use them because I'd rather use my TP on other things like adventure packs. What I would like to see is maybe introducing both the TP cost ones and Plat cost ones.

The Plat cost ones could just be what random armor can look like just in its different colors while the TP cost ones would be the new designs that they are coming out with now. Maybe after the armor skins get a chance to grow more people will like the newer designs but I do think that ones you could use plat for would be a good option for both a plat sink and giving something to f2p players as well as anyone else who doesn't want to spend TP on armor appearance.

    Just my thoughts

Dun forget that in d&d you can easily make one plate appear like a robe and the other way around.
There's no real reason to not have the armor you want to show.

Currently you can't choose the appearance you like from armor kits because it depends on the base armor.
So if your rogue was stuck wearing pajama outfits instead of light chain you are still stuck with the outfit appearance from the kit.
