Default Short sword + 5 - price check

So I am rather new to DDO, not to online games mind you but yesterday was my first day to DDO, found I liked a lot so upgraded to VIP.

Anywho I was doing some very low level quests in starter town and a guy was advertising a +5 sword for answer a trivia question. I won and now am wondering what it is worth as i think I could use PLAT more then a sword i cant use for 6 levels and am more of longsword or great sword person anyway.

any offers or at least price checks?

Whatever the vendor in House D offers you, take it.

(That's my way of telling you it isn't worth very much.)

A low level Dex thief. It is the offhand weapon until you are able to get Oversized Two-Weapon Feat

Keep the +5 shortsword until you have something better. Your first time through the game, you're not going to pick up great weapons easily. A +5 hits more often than any other weapon with the same ML and does very similar damage. Until I can purchase a +5 weapon with effects, I'm always carrying a plain +5 for those times I start to see misses.

PS: Why do you favor longswords/greatswords? Longswords in particular are just terrible.

If you insist on selling it, you could put it up on the auction house for 75% of base value. You'll get about 50% of base value back after auction house fees, and I think it should sell at that price.

If you are that new though, I'd just keep it in the bank till you are level 8. Every character should have a set of +5 weapons for enemies with higher than average AC (well, every character that isn't loaded down with tons of raid loot and twink items, and past life feats).

Sell it on the Auction House.
You won't make tons but you will make more than you would from selling to a vendor.
A vendor will give you ~10% of the items base value only, so it wont be worth a ton.

I am surprised at how often the plain jane + weapons I put on the Ah do sell. Vendor offering you 25 plat? put it on the AH for 25*1.3 + 1 starting bid 33.5 so 34 starting price. and put a buyout just a bit below the base price. If its base is 2,500 put a 2,250 buyout on it.

they sell much more often than a +1 shock X of junky suffix weapons with the same pricing scheme.
Move along , Nothing to see here
