    Default Princess Bride

Inspired by a recent quote thread, I watched the movie again. As watching
I was thinking about how Hollywood rarely does anything original any more,
and often have been remaking old movies.

If there were to be a remake, who would you cast in the major/minor roles?

    Westley-
    Buttercup -
    Humperdinck -
    Count Rugen -
    Vezzini -
    Fezzik -
    Inigo -
    Miracle Max -
    Valerie/Witch -
    Grandfather -
    Grandson -

    Cheers

    Wow!
That cast is a tough act to follow...
Next time give us a Hard challenge...

I can say I would be a very hard sell on a remake for this...
Especially after the bad taste I have with the Last Airbender
    adaptation...

    But I did my Best...

    Wesley- Orlando Bloom

    Buttercup- Keira Knightly

Humperdink - Jason Isaacs or ALan Rickman
(They can easily pull off either role.)

Count Rugan - Jason Isaacs or Alan Rickman /

Venzini - Bill Murray Or Robin Williams

Fezzik - Paul Wight (AKA "The Big Show" of WWE)

Note: He is 7ft 4in. 450lbs Tall and has recently
played a similar Character in the movie "knucklehead."

    Inigo - Johnny Depp

    Miracle Max - Robin Williams

You could also switch Him and Bill Murray
But I went with Bill Murray as Vinzini
because he has Shown he is Not afraid to Play a bit part,
or Die in a movie, (even as himself...he did that in "Zombieland".)
You could also cast Robin Williams in Either role...

Valerie / "The Witch" - Cameron Diaz

    Grandfather - Billy Crystal

    Grandson - Davis Cleveland

It was tough to find the right mix But
I think if they stayed true to the original
They COULD pull it off... I would also like to see them
do a Little more With the Pit of despair...
Inigo and Fezzik had some great scenes in there in the book.

Somewhat close to what I was thinking. Paul Wight is obvious,
Robin Williams as Vezzini, didn't think of that one, good call.

For some reason I see John Malkovich as Rugen. Inigo.... not sure
was leaning toward Hugh Jackman or another more obvious call,
    Antonio Banderas.

I'm not sure it's a movie I'd like to see made, too many potential
chances to ruin it. But as I said in the OP, Hollywood has been
rehashing material for a while now, and it doesn't seem to be ending.

    Cheers

I shut down for 7 hours crying in a ball against the wall in a corner of my room after reading this. You should've seen how bad I was after seeing the movie butcher the series.

    On topic...

I'd avoid a remake, doesn't need it kind've like the new Tron wasn't a remake of the old one but a sequel.

Miracle Max and Valerie? Billy Crystal and Carrol Kane of course. They wouldn't even need makeup this time!

You forgot the best character of the movie. The old lady at the wedding.

For the record I too am against a remake.
    (As noted above...)

I was merely trying to note if it were done, as others stated
This was who I would try to put in there... The OP was just trying
To have a little fun... Put down the pitchforks and the flames please...

OK, in the tradition of most remakes, let's see just how bad we could make this!

    Count Rugen - Ben Stiller
    Vezzini - Ray Romano
    Fezzik - Shaquille O'Neal
    Inigo - Tommy Wiseau
    Miracle Max - Sylvester Stallone
    Valerie/Witch - Amy Winehouse
    Grandfather - William Shatner
    Grandson - The Situation

A solution to this potential heresy would be choose another of William Goldman's unfilmed books (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Goldman#Novels ) and seek to make a film as original as Princess Bride.

"May I live a thousand years and never hunt again" if they make a remake of this movie. It is absolutely perfect as is
