OK, in the tradition of most remakes, let's see just how bad we could make this!

    Westley- Wil Wheaton
    Buttercup - Linsay Lohan
    Humperdinck - David Hasslehoff
    Count Rugen - Ben Stiller
    Vezzini - Ray Romano
    Fezzik - Shaquille O'Neal
    Inigo - Tommy Wiseau
    Miracle Max - Sylvester Stallone
    Valerie/Witch - Amy Winehouse
    Grandfather - William Shatner
    Grandson - The Situation

A solution to this potential heresy would be choose another of William Goldman's unfilmed books (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Goldman#Novels ) and seek to make a film as original as Princess Bride.

You keep using that word. In this case, it means EXACTLY what you think it means.

Yeah Princess Bride really is too perfect for a remake.
Please split the class forums into REAL subcategories this is a jumbled mess.

I agree with most everyone else. NO

But you know it will eventually happen. It is too popular a movie for them to pass up the chance to frig it up.

They will probably do it in 3D, with tons of cgi, and not talent.

    I am very upset.

Somebody near my cubicle has "Inconceivable!" as their text message notification and I cant locate them to ask them where they got it. I guess I will have to live with my "Exterminate!" Dalek quote.

Firstly, a remake would be a bad idea.

In the film were being made now, I can see the following cast:

    Westley: Ryan Reynolds
    Buttercup: Amanda Siefried
Humperdink: James Franco (this one bugs me, can't think of anyone else though)
    Inigo: Adrian Grenier
    Fezzini: Martin Short
    Count Rogen: Willem Dafoe
    Fezzik: Michael Clerk Duncan
    Miracle Max: Zach Braff
    Valerie: Tina Fey
    Grandfather: Sam Elliot
    Grandson: meh
