Best and worst trade you ever made?

Sometimes people have radically different ideas about what is and is not valuable.

Sometimes people just do stupid things.

The above two facts can lead to rather interesting trades, both in RL and in DDO. So what is the best in your opinion trade you ever made, and what is worst (if you are not too embarassed to tell)?

My worst, by far: gave Glistening Pebbles for 600 copper Festivult coins

Pretty bad: gave 8 Tapestry Shreds for 16 gold Festivult coins

My best: gave 230 Motes of Night for Chipmunk Funk

Probably second best: gave Glistening Pebbles for 700 copper Festivult coins, 28 gold Festivult coins, and 20,000 pp

Pretty good: gave Ghost touch scimitar of disruption for 6 small Shroud ingredients.

The best trade I ever made was whatever I traded for last.

The worst trade I ever made was whatever I traded to get whatever it was I traded for last.

Since value is subjective each person in a trade is going to feel they got the better of the deal. Thus every trade is both my best and worst trade -- ever.

Worst trade... well it wasn't even a trade it was a gift...
In my first couple months I the game I pulled a DoD. Of course its hidden value is hidden and it looked rather "meh". A vet player I was running with rather casually asked if he could have that if I didn't have it, "it will save me swapping resistance items". Only later did I hear what that docent really did

Best trade... when the level cap was 10 I pulled a +1 vorpal kama. For those that don't know, no one had kama prof at the time but vorpals were almost legand they were so rare. I had been playing less than 6 months, was pretty broke, and immediately a bidding war broke out in guild.

I ended up with more plat than I had ever seen, and a stockpile +1 tomes and +4 stat items and I think a couple other Power 5 items. I felt so rich... And then of course next two mods vorpals started dropping more

I had no idea kamas were in the game before monks were. Guess you learn something new every day.

While it may not be a great trade, I was looking to buy a +2 dex tome the other day and saw the cheapest on the AH was 250k. Almost immediately afterwards somebody in Trade wanted to give a +2 dex tome and 2 chipmunk funks for a +2 int tome. I checked the still open AH and found a +2 int tome for 200k. I immediately bought it and traded it. Saved myself 50k AND picked up two Funks.

Was newly returned after long brk and was offered 400kp for pale lavender ioun stone. Went shopping, 8). Later realised had been had.

Sold +3 lesser heart of wood for 750kp. Thought that was pretty good. Think it was a lesser. Didnt care, lol.

Best trade was back before they had fixed vorpal. It used to be that vorpal would proc on any crit, not just a natural 20. I had a +1 vorpal d. axe, rr human. Someone was looking for a vorp d.axe and was willing to trade a +1 vorpal scimitar for it. Done and done. Just didn't think they'd fix vorpal like two weeks later, but man, what a fun two weeks

Worst trade, and I was on the winning end of the trade, but was so by mistake and still feel bad about it to this day. Was trading a vorpal great axe for a disruptor. The guy I was trading had the disruptor on one character and needed the axe on another. He traded the disruptor to me and told to wait to give him the axe while he switched toons. Everything went fine until just after I handed him the axe. He went link dead and when he came back about a minute later, the axe was gone. Not in my inventory and not in his. I even offered to give him his disruptor back, he declined and said he'd just submit a ticket. As far as I know, he never did get the axe back.

Worst : I sold a +2 tome on the ah for 2k plat it lasted less than 3 minutes.

Best : I am not sure here, most trades I do feel fair to me.

My best trade to me was a Ring of Spell Storing and Firestorm Greaves for 20 lg ingredients (2 lg Scales, 2 Stones, and 4 of Lg Arrowhead, Bone, Chain, and Shrapnel each).

Best was a DoD for less then 10,000 plat. (it was on a bid that must have started at 0ish hoping to get very high and didn't)
I didn't really need it and gave it to a guildie and am glad I did because no way would I now.


Worst was an ioun stone from the AH for way too much (I've mentally blocked how much I paid). I then realized - drum roll - it wasn't upgradable. (an expensive but valuable lesson)

Worst trade by far, back when gold was the currency I didn't pay attention to the number of zeros on the ah, I accidentally bought a scarab of protection (50 charges) for 1 million plat, thought it was 100000 plat!

Best, selling +3 lesser heart of wood for 5 large devil scales and a scroll of raven's eye

My best would be I trade 3 Large Scales and 4 Large Stones for +2 Dex/Con/Str/Int/Wis Tomes and a set of handwraps (portal beaters, Harry beaters, Flaming Burst +10 Stunners, Maladroit/Bonrbreaking, +4 Shock/GUB and a few others), My monk ate all the tomes except the Int, and in the 3 weeks since that trade, Ive pulled a +2 Str, and 1 Con/Dex/Int/Cha/Int/Dex/Str tomes with that monk.


One of the best Ive heard, a guildy snagged a +3 Greater Heart for 10k from the AH... guess the poster forgot a few 0's!

best - I traded a +3 wop SS for 25 blue scales, bloodstone, 1.5mill plat, and a kardins eye and this was after the wop nerf announcement and before it was implemented

Worst - not sure I have had a bad one that stuck in mind atleast

#1 Worst - put my planar gird on AH and set the buy it now at 200k
#2 worst - because I was in a hurry - traded spectral gloves for a lily petal, then realized I needed another chipmunk funk instead.
