I recently wrote a guide about aliases, colors, and custom emotes.

I decided to make this program to make aliases even easier to use. There is no prior knowledge needed. Everything is handled for you. All you do is dream them up, type them in, give it a little color, and there you go.

The program allows you to focus on your creativity, instead of technical know-how.

    AliasHQ

Here's a screenshot... See the site for more info.

I decided to make this because 1) it is possible, and 2) I wanted a GUI for tweaking my aliases. I'm a hobbyist programmer and am familiar with C#. I've never released one of my programs publicly before, so this both fun and exciting. But I digress, I sense imminent rambling.

The site and my guide should sum everything up. Happy emoting.

Exclamation AliasHQ v2.0 has been unleashed!

Just want to let everyone know that this program now does it all.
I've updated it in a very big way. It now does everything: Colors, Clickable Links (moretext tags), Newlines (<P>)

There is even an online sharing system now. You can share your best concoctions of colorful alias creations with the entire world. Or, if you see one that you just have to have, click 'Nab'. It's that easy. It couldn't be any easier. Even if you know nothing at all about aliases. There really is no excuse anymore. Anyone can do it.

Here's what the sharing window looks like...

So, go look at the site, download the program, and get to work crafting custom emotes for all your clever characters. Your friends will thank you.

You know this is the FIRST bit of feedback I have received on this program... I wonder if EVERYONE is getting this?? /shrug

But that's another story... I'll have to mess around with it Oink. Send me a PM and try to include every last little unimportant detail. What version of windows? Did it find your DDO folder ok? what's the filename? how many aliases? and what were they? lol anything you can tell me. I'll try to play around with it when I get some time and figure your bug out...

I've altered the game options text file and added a color index that I can apply to any text. It looks something like ....
    Code:
      ;xlime [ "rgb=#00FF00" ]
    	;lime [ "<;xlime>" ]
to create red text I use ";red", makes it all red

I've tried your program , its pretty sweet but the way that my page is set up, makes it takes a little energy to combine.

I agree that this program does save a lot of time figuring proper color and syntax, but it still limits us to only pre-fab uses of color. Meaning if I want to make a word pink in party chat I wouldn't be able to do it without leaving the game. I have been able to use the HQ to save me lots of time when creating complex aliases that involve lots of colors I just to have to [replace ; with ;x] and it fits in pretty well, I just don't use the other features that really make it nice.

Also Ive just learned that # allows me to add comments to my code to keep it organized. I'm hoping that U9 will have that chat target feature working properly and that you'll be able to explain how to use it.

Hey thanks man. I'm glad you like it. Now share your favorites and show the world that it works! I envision a whole sub-ddo culture that gets really creative with this. The system is set up to share, but alas none have yet... The site is still getting regular hits, but I think everyone is waiting for someone else to start it off lol. Anyways, enough rambling.

    And @ Ferrer

Thanks for the positive feedback. I see the way you've worked around not being able to use the <> in-game. Good thinking. You've created a way to add color dynamically, or where it doesn't have to be embedded in an alias to work. Good for quick draw color.

And I don't think the predefined target alias is anywhere near the top of their to-do list. I don't know though. I haven't even tried it yet since U9 :O I'll have to get back to you on that one.

Well, thanks again... help me get the word out!! It's the community's program now. I can't wait for it to catch on

having an issue with it, it says that the upload for the setup does not work, and also mentions to contact the vendor (you ) and that the range for it does not meet requirements. I downloaded in two separate places to check if it was the filename causing issues but still got the same answer.

    Default Hmmm

I'll re-package and re-upload the setup file. But I'm not sure what the range thing is about... :/ It does require .net framework, but the setup should handle that for you. Hopefully you will get it working so you can tell me what you think about it.

Since DDO now requires two distinct aliases for coloured text in party chat, it'd be nice to have the option of whether or not to terminate a colour tag, allowing us to write whatever following it. I'd love to set up a colour listing but manually removing closing tags is a pain.

    Exclamation U14

So as of U14 this app is "broken" status. A rewrite is entirely possible, but not probable. Aliases are still alive and well, along with colors, but everything is different now. Please refer to my old guide for info on the new methods. (Check the OP for the link) So until I find the willpower and time to rewrite: This thread is now a monument to what once was, but now is not.

Such a shame that it's broken now. I tried the link in OP but its dead.

You can create aliases in a .layout file and load them with /ui layout load <filename>

It means you need to create them in advance, but they work.
