ZOMG NO! Not my precious green boxes! Whatever shall I do!?
Rep system is important to me. When I get red, I know I've made a good post.

Kobold sentient jewel still hate you.
Dear Mods,
So... any work on if the Rep System is gonna get fixed? Or killed? Or even talked about by you guys for a change?
Or is the status-quo so satisfying for the Mods? If so... let us know that instead. I mean, we've had nearly weekly threads pop up with concerns/gripes about the Rep System. Wouldn't ya think enough time has gone by without addressing all this?
Thanks for reading,
Mem
Taken from the forum policies tutorial on the rep system:
Why can't I give Reputation to the Community Team?
The Community Team, after the initial launch of the Reputation System, has opted out of being able to give or receive Reputation.
What I want to know, is why I cannot opt out of being able to give or receive rep as well, I get why mods should have no rep abilities whatsoever, why is the same courtesy not an option to players as well?
"And you ate an apple, and I ate a pear,
From a dozen of each we had bought somewhere;
And the sky went wan, and the wind came cold,
And the sun rose dripping, a bucketful of gold. " - Millay
No, I mean opting as completely turning off my entire ability to give and receive reputation.
As far as moderation goes, people would still be able to report posts/threads as normal.
EDIT: The 'scales of justice' icon they use to give rep is a fallacy as well, I have been given some of unjust good and some unjust bad rep, I would rather have a smiley face in the box that can not be clicked or if it can be it says "poster has opted out of the reputation system, if you feel you need to report posters' post please use the the report post function. Have a nice day!"

Memnir, you should change your signature to something like
"Cetero autem censeo, celebritam rationis esse delendam"
It would be more dramatic![]()

well, I can't bring myself o actually type the digits, and whenever I see the digits they make me cringe, no idea why, since I consider myself to be agnostic.......can we get back to the agreeing with your thread now? I am getting the heebiejeebies again just discussing it.
I just want the same ability to opt out of the entire system, I would be perfectly content to never give or receive reputation of any sort at any time.
And ty Mem, for bringing the issue into focus, I would +1 you, but meh, I don't care about the rep system.
Well, I'm thinking about changing it anyways. The Mods have proven to be unmovable on this topic. Even when I thought I was making some headway on Rep - I was mistaken.
As fond as I am at tilting at this particular windmill, Sancho is telling me it might be time to call it a day.
Did you know that the mods will not remove Rep if you report your positive posts if they do not fit the requirements? I've tried, several times.

The rep system doesn't mean anything. It just gives some folk a sense of being better than others. It doesn't stop bad post or trolls any better than the mods and frankly isn't needed

Yes I do!
I have Greenis,
How about YOU?
Absolutely agreed. This is a system basically set up to track posts, more or less, it says it right in the tutorial, and I will quote it here:
"""What happens if a user's Reputation gets too low?
If a user's Reputation goes below a certain threshold, they will automatically be moved to the Moderated usergroup, meaning all further posts will be placed in a queue until the community team can review the circumstances and determine the correct course of action."""
it is basically just a means of tracking bad posts to make moderation easier, which is fine, but for some dumb reason Turbine felt the need to swing the pendulum to the extreme other end with the poa rep. It is clearly a very poorly thought out system IN MY PERSONAL OPINION.
They could get the same exact results with a like/dislike button on forum posts, which again can be abused, the same as reputation.
One would think that reporting posts would be plenty for their purpose, too many reports on a post, you still could, and SHOULD be sent to the moderated user group.
Seems to be more of a trend with Turbine to overcomplicate simple processes, since what they have now is a system to basically reward veteran forum posters, and keep new forum users from ever wanting to post out of fear of being negged and considered ignorant as well as dumb.
Totally a biased system, and it kept me from using the forums for a long time, until I learned more about the game and knew what I was talking about on basic things for sure.
Edit: forgot quotation marks on my quote.....
