Kill the Rep System.

I remember when you first started this thread back in January, or maybe it was somebody else's but I remembered a call being given to just disable it as asign of protest, I remember a few people posting agreeing to do it but a number of those have Rep on again....why am I the only one revolting?! *Waaah!*

No but seriously your right its broken and serves no purpose, so just turn it off. I think that says plenty right there. Also by turning it off you deprive any rep based nonsense of any power. In short it only matters as much as we make it matter, and by turning it off - you clearly indicate it does not matter to you.

I agree, we must turn off our Rep in protest. Even though it will not be displayed, it will still exist, and we will always wonder if one day it will be tied to giving bonuses or titles to our in game characters.

Problem with the rep system is it came bundled with vbulletin, and as far as generic modules go it isn't particularily useful.
The same goes for the prefix system, have seen it in other vbulletin forums, but at least the devs wanted to put it to a specific use.

So this is just another vbulletin forum using generic modules, if one is not doing any good is ok to turn it off?.
vbulletin could really shine for ddo if we had custom stuff like tags to insert things from item popups to toon builds.
The item popups already exist and are used in the myddo api, the toon build might take some xml parsing but is doable.

The Rep System has lived out whatever marginal uses it may have had to the community. Time for it to go.

There are many reasons to disable rep, but this part here is the truest from my standpoint.

From my very non-scientific observations, it seems clear that much more positive rep is handed out than negative rep. Therefore as the system continues to age nearly everyone trends towards maximum number of green boxes, which completely dilutes any small amount of meaning that the boxes may have ever had.

Some people will trends towards red, but they quickly disappear and are forgotten (forcibly so... ahem).

So then what is the point? All rep does is add a more visual indicator of forum join date.

The "I agree" button seems like a nice addition, and preferable to most general systems for reputation.

While I personally like having a "Don't agree" or "disagree" button as well, it may get to the core of the feedback that drives change in the game....

Meaning, if folks just show up and agree/disagree, and don't comment, it takes away useful feedback on changes that need to be made in the game. I personally don't think that is much of a loss, but the Dev's may need it.

Community Reps (Cordovan specifically) locked one of my threads with a message to the effect that they are taking all the feedback in consideration, but no announcements yet. This at least is a step in the right direction of acknowledging the brimming discontent of forum goers wrt to the Rep system and the new forum bunching-together of classes.

/signed after getting neg rep for really unethical reasons (I even got positive rep added I think maybe by a mod for two of those occasions). Plus, having other members adding good rep to me to counter(which I am grateful for though ) and seeing rep added to to others to counter bad rep then yes I now think the rep system is broke big time.

I don't think so, but I don't really keep track of other people's Rep. But, I'm pretty certain I as the first and still only forumite to hit the Epic label.

how do you go about deleting your account? Is there a way to just make all your posts and rep and what ever just dissapear? Ive seen someone just fall off the face of the forums, was wondering if I could do the same? I dont really see the point in having a forum account anymore.

thign that annoys me the most about the system is that there is absolutely no reason to tell if high rep people did not get it simply by posting jokes or agreeing with everyone on a topic everyone agrees on, then they start negging people who are being helpful, or are just saying something different. Basically it is a system with no discrimination, and that is why it doesnt work D:

also, change all reps to a static +/- 10 if nothing else...
