Not only was there a second, but there will be a third, according to a promotion that recently ran on the WotC website. There was a contest to create a villain for the movie. The promotion ended January 1st, and I can't seem to find it right now.

According to this article, the main purpose of the D&D movie was to get Gary Gygax in a hot tub with Hollywood starlets. Or at least that's how it worked out even if that was not the original intention.

I find it comforting to know that the nerdiest of us all still got his 15 minutes in a Hollywood hot tub.

I hope whoever directed that atrocity has a serious hatred of role-playing games, and purposefully decided to insult the gamers' intelligence in the worst way possible. The idea that something like this movie could occur through incompetence is just too awful to contemplate.

I remember Dragonslayer. It was one of the first VHS movies we rented. If/when I see it on, I'll watch it.

So, I was curious and stayed up and watched the late running of it. Interesting.
Although, in all fairness, it's at about the same level of 75% of all fantasy magical adventure type movies.
Where half the cast is over-acting and the other half looks like they are suppressing their laughter.
And the over-dramatic, falling on the knees NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! while in the middle of a battle.

    Hmm...

I was really expecting more of a 'Reign of Fire' Dragon than the ones that showed up in the D&D movies, but I had to watch because honestly, there just aren't all that many films with a dracolich.
I think Reign of Fire, really set a tone for dragons in movies. Although the DnD movie was released first, all other dragons now have to live up to what they were able to do in RoF. I know there have been a couple movies in the last five years, were the dragons were really lacking, and my though is always that they could have at least stolen the models from RoF, then create that garbage

Its more like watching a really fun dnd game play out, but...all the "action" is presented with people dressed up in armor in proper locations though it is occasionally interrupted by reality (as are real games)...just watch it and let is speak for itself. You will find yourself quoting it
I will definitely be on the lookout for that.

Nah, he was a human. But they brought two of them, with no cleric, and on a 5 member party. Sounds like disaster already, for a bunch of people on their first life.
Plus, I have it on good authority that he wasn't wearing a heavy fort item.... Some people are just asking for it

I saw the thing on IMDB. It's supposed to come out this year. Hurray....

Now the second one will be running sometime soon. I am going to have to watch that, just because.

Watched Dorkness Rising today... It's funny, and makes me want to go out and find a group to play with.

1st one was ****, had to watch the 2nd one yesterday and well it´s as "good" as "legend of the seeker" wich is crappy so yeah it´s better then 1 but still a complete waste of time.

Good feeling i just got, realizing i spent 2 hours of my life that i will never get bk on something crappy.

I own it. It still holds up pretty well considering the company it keeps (i.e. more awful S&S movies than good ones) and it does have the historic distinction of being the first movie ever that used Go-Motion instead of the tried and true Stop-Motion technology of the Ray Harryhausen era. Computers had just gotten good enough to make realistic motion at that point and people had to actually make the movies instead of today where it is the other way around.

Watched the second one. It was all right.

All-in-all, compared to some recent big named fantasy(ish) type movies, they shouldn't be considered terrible, just poorly done. Would definitely watch them again instead of some that have been released in the last 5 years...

I watched the second one for the frenzied bezerker. never has rage been so beautiful. and she spoke with such elegance. till she raged. I liked the cleric too, till he got wrecked by that silver dragon. I didn't like the wizard because she was making up spells.their party needed a bard. they should have true reincarnated Wayne as a bard... and then crushed him again. and let the middle aged cleric live.

Yeah, I'd definitely group with that Barb constantly. And I liked the cleric too. What annoyed me about the wizard, is apparently she never leaves the island, but she came anyway, without any need of convincing. And then at the end, she's hanging around the city.... Looks like she couldn't care less about leaving the island.

And I don't think there was a single dwarf in the movie. I saw some halflings running around, but not dwarves, Hmm
