    Default 12/6/2 Fighter/Ranger/Bard Works?

Was thinking about rolling this, I know the enhancements aren't necessarily taken as early as they could be, wasn't sure what the build would have room for until the end. It's mostly centered around Ranged Attacking, but could also swap for TWFing Khopeshes.
Bard gives some Skills (UMD) and a small Inspire, along with a bit more SP than standard Ranger, but I could easily choose to swap into a different class if someone thought it would be better. would FvS, Sorc, Cleric, Wiz be worth the loss of full UMD ranks?

Personally, I would drop the bard and take either 2 rogue or 2 monk. With the rogue you still get UMD, and add in evasion, more skill points at level 1 (if you take a rogue level first), plus the ability to deal with traps.

With Monk you get evasion and two martial arts feats. (http://ddowiki.com/page/Martial_arts_feats)

Thanks for the input. Couple questions. Is evasion a necessity at the higher levels? I was keeping the bard for some minor leveling ease (I have a tendency to solo lots) but overall you may be right on the rogue deal. I'm not too big a fan of Monk in DDO, but then I haven't played one yet.

The other prob with dropping the bard is having to burn a feat for Mental Toughness, what would you drop to still get into AA, toughness?

I guess if HP isn't an issue then go Rogue and drop Toughness for Mental Toughness, if Monk then I can pickup both and still have an extra feat slot for something else.

Can you use Monk Stances while not centered?

I think there are some fundamental problems here, but I can't look to fixing them without a little more info. Therefore I have some questions.

What do you want this build to do?

Are you set on playing an Arcane Archer, if so, why?

Do you have access to 32 point builds? What races/classes are accessible to you?

But the one thing I will say at the moment is that Toughness is mandatory on whatever you build

No. Evasion is absolutely not necessary. There are vast numbers of people who run high level regular and Epic quests on Ftr 20 and Barb 20 and Wiz 20, etc. and they do just fine.

Evasion is very nice to have if you have a good Reflex save. I love having Evasion when I have it. I miss it when I don't have it. It is certainly not necessary, though. In fact, I'd say that not having Evasion would actually make you a better player exactly because your character is more vulnerable and you are forced to be more careful.

You don't have to have Evasion, any more than you have to have UMD...but it sure is nice to have both!

You can drop GWF; it's not a pre-req for GWS or Kensai II.

Here's my take on the idea: rogue 2 / rgr 6 / ftr 12 AA. I didn't squeeze in the slashing feats you did, but it might give you some ideas for how to tweak your build.
