I will sum up the defense that Auburn has.
Around the end of the Third quarter Auburn's Defense will have worn down the ducks O-line.

During this time, Auburn will go into a rush defense trying to get to the QB.
this will force the the ducks to either run sweep plays, or to get out of their I-line and go shotgun formation.
The ducks will be tired and their wings will be clipped by then cause you can't run your backs every play and expect them to be in 100% that late in the game.
I think Auburn will win this game too. They are clearly bigger in most positions and I'm not sure who in the Ducks defense will be able to consistently bring Newton down. This will remind people of Vince Young vs the Trojans a few years back, Newton will look like a man running over boys in a family Thanksgiving pickup game by the 4th Q.

That's because the rules dont allow you to have a Championship Game unless you have a minimum of 12 Teams in your Conference.

Have you watched an Oregon Game this year? If you expect the Ducks to get worn down or tired you are in for a surprise. Oregon's whole strategy is to wear out the other team and they do this by running an offensive play every 5 seconds. It is the hurry up offense on steroids. And they can do it because they have a lot of fast, well conditioned players. Oregon will not get worn down. The way to beat Oregon is to get up early and then have long sustained drives to keep their offense off the field. Check Oregon's stats for outscoring opponents in the second half and 4th quarter... the numbers are staggering.

And by the way the Pac-10 is a conference with good teams top to bottom, running through all those teams undefeated definately says something.

Looking at the respective schedules of the two teams, Oregon played only one game against a team anything like Auburn (and "anything like" is a generous stretch on my part) and that was Stanford, which they beat pretty handily.

On the other hand, Auburn played at least five games (South Carolina twice, LSU, Arkansas and Alabama) who were more similar to Oregon than Stanford is to Auburn and won them all, albeit only a couple of them comfortably.

Auburn has been tested to a far greater degree than Oregon. You can't look at the strength of schedule and conclude anything different. They have a proven record of rising to every challenge. Oregon has not been similarly challenged- at least not as often. It's not Oregon's fault that the Pac-10 is not as tough a conference as the SEC.

I'm thinking something along the lines of Auburn 55 Oregon 42. I can't see either team stopping the other, but I see Oregon being able to slow down Auburn to a lesser extent than vice-versa.

I laugh at that. Look at the SEC west. Other than Ole Miss every team in that diviosn is in a bowl game, and other than the loss by Alabama to South Carolina their only losses are to each other. Thats saying something.

yes I have watched a few ducks games. I said in my first post that they have speed.
Do you know where they came up with that kind of play style?

that's right Gus Malzahn, our offensive coach.
He wrote a book that outlined all of this and brought the revamped wildcat formation back into what it is today.

I least you are the first person to say something to back up his team instead of just saying "Go Ducks" and posting that.

    Thumbs up << Not Biased

Is very simple to me really.

Future inmate Cam Newton with his showboat, 1-trick pony offense? Can I get even a little woot? No?

Or any other team in NCAA? Yah!! WOOOT!!

    Smite them, Ducks!!

Edit: I know Auburn is better team than I like to admit. Just really dislike O.J. ...er, Cam Newton beyond reason.

It is no wonder the SEC has so many titles when they have a 50/50 shot every season. They have only beaten horrible big 10 teams this year in bowls. Even if auburn had lost a game they would have been playing here. Everything is set up for the SEC unless a good team like USC or Oregan makes the title game and not some sucky big 10 school.

Not down call on final drive by Auburn and ensuing bush-leagueness was terrible.

Call it down on the field and it would not be overturned...

Bad way to end an exciting game.

Grats to Auburn. It wasn't pretty, but still fun to watch. Oregon's D got a lesson in why coaches always say "play through the whistle".

Still would like to see a playoff though, the 37 day layoff was apparent in both offenses, and that wouldn't happen in a playoff system. That's like holding the Super Bowl in March after the conference championship games.

meh. fair enough, but really. a play where both teams stop completely and then it goes on. blow the whistle on it and then sort it out.
