Glad I found your post as I was about to start a new one on this very topic.

I agree with everything that has been said above and cannot understand how this is sooooo difficult to fix??

I have added Icy Burst to many different weapons this year and they work great. But it is just so 'minor league' that this persists for 2 months. I would have assumed they had it figured out by the time they re-released Risia but NOPE.

Seriously, how hard can this be? If it worked in years past, that should narrow down why its not working NOW.

I must confess I am a little bit concerned. What concerns me is that any 'fix' they implement may not work properly. I can just envision a 'fix' that renders all previously crafted items broken or something that drastic. OOPs... it wouldn't be the first time Turbine (or others) fixed something only to have the unintended consequences rear its ugly head. I mean, take for example new and old versions of Dreamspitter; Why cant we trade in or upgrade our old one to be the new one? They have this mechanic in place for other items, why not this one? To many problems with unintended consequences? It makes me worried....

Given that it has taken 2+ months to get any fix on this has me worried that there is in fact some snag that makes this less than simple. If it were easy, why hasn't it been done?

They stated last week they had a fix and it would be in 'next week' which makes it this week. But as of now, Risia is back on and new weapons with the affect are still affected with the String Table Curse. So what gives?
Does this mean tehy THOUGHT they had a fix only to realize last minute that their fix is not working? Whats going on?

I know the item works as is but until the fix actually goes off 100% successfully, I will remain worried that it will never be fixed properly.

    Call me a cynic.
Some more Dev insight on this would be simple yet awesome.

It's a PITA, but there are two way to tell what is on your weapon already:

    1) Look at the weapon (if melee or thrown weapon) and look for one of three things:
    a) If the weapon has a light glow with soft blue/white moving surface it has Chill Touch
    b) If the weapon has a bright glow with small bits of frost occasionally coming off of the surface it has Frost.
    c) If the weapon has a fog around it with many small bits of frost coming off of the surface it has Icy Burst.

    2) If a ranged weapon or you just can't tell from looking at it, go into a wilderness zone where things can stand up to you for awhile and see what procs.

None of this helps with selling or trading these afflicted items, so please fix it already!

If your guild ship has a dummy, its an easier way to check the damage. After the first knockdown of the dummy, every hit is critical, so you should see one number for Frost and another for Burst if Icy Burst is on your weapon.

I hope they get the fix out this week though. At this point it seems a tossup between negligence, lack of competent DB admins, or intentional deprioritization, none of which makes your customer base happy...

It would be nice to be able to trade the recipes as well so you can sell icy burst kits or recipes without going through the AH, but I won't hold my breath on that one...

Is there any other way to tell if an item has Icy Burst on it besides equipping it and look at the effect? I crafted some higher level weapons that i can not equip at my current level. The majority of them have recipe 3 and 4 on them but one has the recipe 5 applied. I really should have payed better attention when I was crafting, but it is already a done deal.

also, OP, i'm pretty sure "fixed" doesn't have an "a" in it.

Well, I'm a new player (although I went with VIP). I wasn't aware of this bug.

    My highest level character 12th, finally splashed out and bought a half decent weapon for himself;
+5 Frost Handwraps (they had Frost 1-6 AND Acid 1-6).

I decided to add +1 cold effect to them.

Now they're +5 Acid Handwraps with no Frost effects anymore and a string table error.
The altar sucked the Frost 1-6 off them and gave them a string table error (which is +1 cold).
    I lose.

I did think that removing a cold effect meant the word COLD, not the word Frost. My error I suppose.

However, here's the thing that annoys me as a new VIP player. I can't submit a ticket ingame. Whatever choices I make on the pull down menus, leads to a blank box on the right. It doesnt matter what I type in it, it auto blanks and says I can't submit.
So I submit a ticket through the website, to be told they know nothing about this string table error and I should submit a bug report.

A great way to really keep a new customer who lost more than half his ingame wealth learning about a bug. /sarcasm.
Well, back to grinding the lousy lvl 10 and 11 quests me and the wife can manage between us to get the lost cash back so I can afford a weapon replacement. :-(

It seems that the icy burst recipe can be applied to named handwraps, but is a cosmetic affect only and does not grant additional icy damage in combat. It only changes the text (with the string table error) and the icon background to that of an icy weapon.

However I did this to my epic wraps of endless light and want them reverted back to their original purple color. The in game ticket interface isn't working for me atm. Is there any way to go about fixing this?

And yes I did submit a bug report about this. Here's a pic showing what I mean.
