    While we're sharing... here's mine!

Before I post though, the returning vorpal is already impressive enough, why put icy burst on it if it auto-kills on a 20?

Here's my two favourite Icy Bursted Scimmys, my general trash beaters on my 'Drizzt' toon. Loving them ^^.

As to why adding Icy Burst to a Vorpal, IMO, it makes a great deal of sense. Vorpal only occurs on a roll of a natural 20. Burst effects occur on any critical hit. For example, with the Improved Critical: Slashing feat, my +2 Vorpal Scimitar [With Icy Burst Kit] will critical on a roll of 15 to 20. This means I'm more likely to kill a mob without having to rely on a natural 20, as well as giving me extra DPS on every single hit. At the end of the day, if you could get more DPS on an item, why not? ^^.

If it's dieing at a reasonable rate without rolling a natural 20 by just adding Icy Burst to a weapon then you'd be killing it even faster and doing better using a pure DPS weapon.

The only reason to use a vorpal is because something has too many hit points to kill in a reasonable amount of time.

Try hosting through Photobucket (http://www.photobucket.com). They don't shrink the images (that much).

That's not strictly true. I read an excellent thread that did a very thorough job of working out when it is most advantageous to use Vorpal weapons. It was nowhere near as clear cut as I thought it would be. I can't seem to find the thread at this time, but I will have a look for it. It concluded that provided your Vorpal is still outputting decent DPS (the OP's Vorpal was dealing roughly 80% of the DPS of his main DPS gear), then you would statistically be killing mobs quicker with the Vorpal if they were falling in roughly 6-8 hits. Adding Icy Burst in to the mix changes nothing to those calculations, it simply gives additional DPS.

Secondly, while a natural 20, and a critical confirmation is required for Vorpal to work, it is still a probability in the end, not a solid stat. So while you could sit there swing at a mob that doesn't fall after potentially 25 hits, there really is no downside to having Icy Burst on said item.

*EDIT* Found the link to the thread I read. A very informative read: http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php...ghlight=vorpal

Cool Another reason to add Icy...

I pulled a total of roughly 25 Icy Kits. After taking care of my friends and guild mates. I sold 5. Gifted 3 in hide and seek games. And still had some to spare.

If I had not become insanely bored of the purple coin collection monotony...I would have had more spares and probably ended up gifting or selling more.

To me, the weapon I chose. Is clearly a bit of a novelty , I always get a laugh (and an offer) when ever I show it.

The Icy Burst is just a little something extra..thats adds to it.

Also, I have put Icy Burst, Force Burst on most of my W/P Weapons. In a way, softens the "nerf" they had layed on them from a while back.

I've collected a few Icy Burst weapons between this Games and the last one... Here are the ones I'm actually quite proud of

Edit: the Shock Handwraps of Bleed are only Frosted, not Icy Bursted =P These do not include some of the things I sold, like Paralyzing Khopesh or the goofs, like the Epic Mabar Wraps with the kit attached =D

Aside from a couple of holyburst picks of maiming for epics I have found my best use of my icy kits is on lowby weapons for TR lvling +1 of PG (lvl2), +1 Holy(lvl4), +1 holy of PG (lvl6), +1 holyburst of PG (lvl8), and +2 holyburst of pg (lvl10). at lvl 12 greensteels and named weapons will be what I use up to cap

Yeah lowbie TR twinking is where it's at. After lvl 12 (when you get your GS weaps) Icyburst is a moot point -- except for Monks, they can use any extra DPS they can get their hands on proving the lack of GS wraps. And kamas .... well I know some might disagree, but they suck horribly.

I tossed a few on some banes. I also bursted a few seeker-10 / maimings because I don't have enough bloodstones to go around.
Ghallanda - now with fewer alts and more ghostbane

I can def see the seeker/maim combo and certainly some greater banes if you have the recipes especially Elemental bane and Giant bane
