    Default Help loading into World

I can launch the Turbine DDO game launcher, and log in. But when I come to the world list the client freezes up. The Diamond loaders appear to be loading the other worlds. Sarlona also appear to be UP in green. But I cannot click Play, nor any of the other links, nor move the window.

    Help would be appreciated.

    Default try this

hey guys i had the same problem too for the past few days... xp home new install but cant seem to get in after update 8. Launcher stalls out just as its time to choose servers. I was able to get DDO launcher working again by removing all traces of .NET4 from my XP install. YMMV but just thought you'd like to give it a try.

    good luck

Does the launcher log file contain any messages?
    http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=199719

When did the launcher last work and has Windows performed any updates?

If removing .net 4 fixed the problem for corporalspaz I'd suggest re-installing .net 1.1:

    and then it's service pack:

When this happens at this stage whats going on is something is keeping the launcher from performing its check of server status (eg. up/down etc) usually because something is blocking this check, and most likely because the launcher file itself is trying to connect to multiple IP addresses (the servers) so your internet/antivirus or some other security setting/app (could be on the network hardware eg, modem and/or router as well) is preventing this.

I've seen this come up in some instances where heuristic/behavior based filtering/monitoring was active in the antivirus/internet security apps and they saw "turbinelauncher.exe" trying to connect to a bunch of IP addresses and said "no" but didn't give any active feedback along the lines of "Hey I stopped this file Turbinelauncher.exe from doing some odd things do you really want to let it do this?" etc.

You're going to want to review all settings in your security/av and similar apps, also the settings on the router and modem (if you can access the modems config) and see if they're configured to filter based on activity (rather than a known "bad address" or virus/malware code) or something similar, possibly filtering secured http (https) connections as well. I can't get more specific only because the description will and usually does vary from app to app.

If the items from my reply up above aren't getting it to connect and its still ongoing if you haven't yet definitely follow up with a tech support request here (click "Support Home" then "Submit a Ticket") as they can get much more in-depth than can be done on the forums when it comes to troubleshooting connectivity issues.

I turned off Windows firewall and the problem went away. Yes, their is an exception for DDO client in the firewall but it still would not work. The stranger thing is I have 3 PC's running DDO and this is the only one with the problem. I am going to get another firewall and see if that fixes it.
