Cannith: Some of the nicest players I can imagine

This occurred a few days ago, but thought about it again and I thought it needed to be said.

PuG shroud run, there was a player who claimed that he "didn't remember anything" because he hasn't played "since update 5." Clearly totally unfamiliar with shroud, saying, "wow" and "this must be rough solo" and a whole lot of "what's a greensteel?" (The character had at least one tier 3 and Tier 2 greensteel weapons).

Most of us thought the account was either bought or it was a kid sneaking onto his dad's account. He refused to stop talking, babbling and further exhibiting his lack of knowledge.

Anyway, that wasn't the impressive part. The impressive part is that everyone in the Raid was ridiculously patient, and carefully explained all the mechanics of the game ("you should not use vorpals on the portals"), and "You should not just give away your large scales."

The most frustrating statement on voice chat was "Just use your greensteel."

Anyway, I was pretty frustrated (I kept my mic muted), but I definitely got the warm fuzzies with the number of nice people on the server, and feel they all deserve a big pat on the back.

Yeah, There are quite a few good people on the server. I usually get the warm fuzzies myself when a "Fresh off the shore" person finally gets to Stormreach and goes "Whoa, cool."

I recently ran a Crucible with Aaldrin and some of his guildies ( can't remeber full guild name was Bretan......IIRC)and an alt called xxcyrusxx. Although we actually wiped due to too many deaths and some nasty mobs and running out of time , it was a great run for friendship and helping each other out

I would run anytime with these guys and gals, it was an honour.

Sorry I had to pull out in the end but we were getting nowhere and I had to go to bed

I hope you finished it in the end and got some good loot as rewards.

Lol, if it was I'm glad to hear that those that could hear were helpful.....if it wasn't one of my runs.....still good to hear, but some crazy coincidences.

I joined a tempest spine PUG (I am not very familiar with TS). Everybody is inside the first lair after the whole fire elemental run, except one toon. Someone asked for a DDoor and said, "I will just go get him". Then I typed in the party chat, "This is why I love Cannith".

By the time we reached Fire and Ice, the Raid leader is not saying anything, and some toons where lost. I tried my best to heal / help other toons, and we ended up with 6 toons generally lost. They finished the Raid without helping us. Half of the lost team did not have any chance to loot some chests. Yup, this is why I love Cannith

i was in that run, and it was kind of amusing to see this kid with no knowledge whatsoever of the game running around with a seriously well geared character and asking what a greensteel was, then when we explained he said "oh u mean this" and linked several greensteels. i think we all felt this strange mix of amusement and rage at him. anyways he was a good kid and he was really polite and social so there was really nothing wrong with him except for the fact that he obviously had not earned his great character by himself

Same here... got lost in the water after afking a bit, and noone helped me. Until one kind person decided to ask: "Where's Roarindragon?" then, all the sudden half of the group started trying to find me...after 3 mins though, they gave up... though it was my fault mostly. I was still kind of happy/sad after that raid, since after they gave up, 5 mins later I found teh entrance and quickly explored and knew where to go now. By the time I used my awesome swimming skills to find my way out, they were already on Sor'Jek...I felt a little frustrated and angry since they decided the loot was more important then a dwarf . But it turned out ok I still got to beat up Sor'jek with em and got teh loot. Now, I won't be lost without my underwater action agin

Atleast he was polite...I have seen 4/6 of the WHOLE party rage quit and only me a poor dwarf and a poor sorceror were left...dead and alone because of the leader's failure and the people's attitude. I decided not to play for a little bit when that happened...and I felt bad for the sorc until he D/C on me then I was alone.

When I first made a few alts there, I thought it would only be for a brief time and see how the new server shaped up - and to challenge myself a bit with a totally fresh start.

Now it's home. Kinda funny how that happened.

It is a pretty laid back crowd... I have never experienced a bad pug yet and people usually arent picky about characters and group makeup...sort just run what you brung mentality.

On the other hand, if you make it obvious that you stole or bought or "borrowed" your account, I'm sure they would be happy to help

Played on a number of servers both in EU and US and the two very best have been the now defunct Keeper and my new home here on Cannith; where I have been since it was born. Lots of nice players and a few plonkers too :

I can live without LFM saying things like "...don't be a box of smouldering fail..." like one that is up now. Mind you it is easy to steer clear of with a message like that; perhaps all numpties coold co-operate by adoping a similar approach?

I will say this, DDO has had a longer adjustment period going from strictly P2P to incorporating F2P than LOTRO (Lord of the Rings Online). I have a sub to the latter game and don't mind people coming along as long as they appreciate the game and everything behind it. I will say though DDO has welcomed me in pugs for any quest that I am looking for or need (maybe cus my main is a Rogue Mechanic and it's in high demand... but... w/e...) than LOTRO could have as this point. I feel an obligation as a gamer and as an avid and skilled tabletop D&D guy to prove and show you what I have to offer and can do. I've made a bunch of friends across various guilds. It seems at least here on Cannith that guild names mean only so much and it isn't a very elitist type of thing. I'm really happy with this server and hope to continue with you guys and purchase the really good content and be guided by more veteran players as to what this particular game has to offer since I am extremely familiar with the mechanics.
