Just curios, would it be possible to make a Pure fighter with the full Kensai line while also getting the full/almost full elven arcane archer? and if so, how much would it gimp the fighter part?

Personally I like 6 ranger because that will get u TWF feats( first 2) and free many shot but being a fighter u should have the feats to spend but you do lose kensai 3, I also have seen like 18 fighter 1 rog 1 wiz or sorc work well(I like wiz for mental toughness from the class feat, and u can get some umd)

My idea for a Arcane archer...ranged damage specialist.
I made a half-elf lvl 18 kensai 3 fighter/lvl1 cleric (for the mental toughness to qualify for arcane archer, and follower of silver flame enhancement, and turn undead)/lvl 1 monk (free feat and wisdom bonus for AC)/bard dilly feat(fascinate)/74 progression maxed out arcane archer. gives you a ton of feat slots to play with and very specialized damage... and unlike ranger uses heavy armor ...with a longbow. damage/defense is very high.
Monk portion yes will be uncentered..but AC bonus from wisdom bonus still applies even if monk is uncentered
start with ability scores: 14 strength, 14 dex, 14 con, 8 int, 14 wis(AC bonus), 15 chr( fascinate/turn undead) then at lvl 7 use a +2 all stats book.
this gives you very focused damage..potenical for all the ranged feats also.
feats i picked:
mental toughness
deflect arrows
point blank
rapid shot
precise shot
imp precise shot
bow strength
weapon focus: ranged(+1 attack rolls)
greater weapon focus:ranged (+1 attack rolls)
superior weapon focus: ranged (+1 attack rolls)
weapon specialization:ranged (+2 damage)
greater specialization :ranged (+2 damage)
improved critical: ranged (doubles critical hit range)
power critical (+4 confirm critical hit)
manyshot
dodge (+1 AC bonus)
mobility
shot on the run
some perks with this spec is also some of the ranged enhancments too such as the following for example:
follower of the silver flame(+1 to hit with longbows)
kensai longbow specialization 1 & 2( +1 to damage and to hit, and + 2 to confirm critical hits) x2
kensai longbow specialization 3 (increases threat range by +1)
fighter longbow weapon specialization (additional +1 damage )x2
fighter critical accuracy 1,2,3,&4 (+2 to confirm critical hit)x4
fighter haste boost 1,2,&3 (+25% attack speed for 20 secs total)
...also got fighter armor mastery 1,2,&3 (increases max dex AC bonus by +1)x3
i love it.

well you can go pure DPS:
18/1/1 ftr/wiz/rgr can get you all the relevant feats and kensai III (usually thrown on leh scimitars or khopeshes)
or you can get less dps, less hp/to-hit, but also evasion, some nifty ranger abilities, and possibly UMD or trapskill
12/6/2 ftr/rgr/rog
It is technically possible to go 20 ftr elf arcane archer if you take the sorc past life. I wouldnt recommend that though as that results in you having no SP to use the imbue abilities.
18 fighter with a splash in a casting class that gets sp at lvl 1 would be a workaround if you want to go the "pure fighter" path for AA without losing your imbues.
Before making a decision compare the build you're thinking of taking to the various AA builds and ask yourself what your build is giving you that one of those builds wouldn't.
There are several Kensai II & III-based AA builds on the forums: e.g., Bowmaster, Helves Angel.
