Default Crucible Cakewalk thanks to Sarlona PUG

I want to say thank you to the PUG members who ran the Crucible (and several other GH quests) last night/this morning at O Dark Thirty AM. You guys did a great job, great teamwork, and good communication all around.

And I want to call special attention to Airmaiden, Cleric Extraordinaire, for taking the time to guide our PUG through The Crucible, and really making the extra effort to teach us the finer points of the quest so we can pass that knowledge on to others.

I had tried duoing Crucible twice before with varying degrees of failure. The first time I abandoned b/c of the maze and barrage of ice storms; the second time b/c of a fiasco with the Agility trial when I got stuck inside the trapped corridor of death because, after grabbing the horn, I stood there patting myself on the back instead of high tailing it out of the room.

Airmaiden was the consummate teacher and educator, showing the utmost patience and resolve whether it was healing one of us fell into a trap he had pointed out earlier, or whether it was jumping down into the maze to shepherd those of us (like me) who fell down back out of it.

The highlight of the night was when he talked our PALADIN, who had never done this quest before, through the Agility trial and then the swim (on hard difficulty). Even thought our brave paladin died once during the swim, Airmaiden dived in (who knew dwarves could swim?), recovered the stone, raised him, and talked him through the remainder of the trial.

Just a great overall PUG experience late at night on Sarlona. Thanks everyone.

    Default And I missed it!

I believe this is the PUG I saw last night, and really thought about joining since I have not run Crucible yet. But it was late, and I had just finished soloing Delirium, so my eyes were a little fuzzy. Wish I had jumped in now.

Crucible is a nightmare when you've no idea what to expect other than the wiki. 73 heal pots and 4 cakes later I got my fighter through that tunnel on hard lol!

"Where was the rogue?" you may ask, AFK, gone to get pizza. /sigh

There are a lot of folks on Sarlona willing to take the time to show you quests. Which is nice when you are a newb/borderline noob like me lol.

Yes it was becoming a horrible, recurring nightmare - for me at least.

I was resolved to get through it one way or the other last night, even if it took all night. But fortune smiled and it took maybe 20-25 mins tops and only two deaths.

Our party consisted of: FTR, FTR, PAL, WIZ, WIZ, CLR. Considering four of us had never run it to completion (or even at all), and we had a paladin (who had never run the quest) playing our rogue, I thought it went better than I ever expected.

I have to say, I followed the forum advice for LFM about asking for a guide in the LFM, and it worked out (albeit until Airmaiden joined - he was the last to join, and we only had room b/c our FvS had just left -we were looking at a rough go of it).

Check out MrCow's walkthrough animated gif. Super helpful. Mooooo thanks Cow!

Congrats on the completion. One of the more challenging and rewarding quests in the game IMHO.

Hah, that is really swift. The maze was only hard cause we kept getting to DA plaid thanks to the mephits from the soul howlers. Those spikes in the water were insane. I had a 30 something swim at the time too cause, well I'm dumb and thought it was a good place to stick points.
