I want to say thank you to the PUG members who ran the Crucible (and several other GH quests) last night/this morning at O Dark Thirty AM. You guys did a great job, great teamwork, and good communication all around.
And I want to call special attention to Airmaiden, Cleric Extraordinaire, for taking the time to guide our PUG through The Crucible, and really making the extra effort to teach us the finer points of the quest so we can pass that knowledge on to others.
I had tried duoing Crucible twice before with varying degrees of failure. The first time I abandoned b/c of the maze and barrage of ice storms; the second time b/c of a fiasco with the Agility trial when I got stuck inside the trapped corridor of death because, after grabbing the horn, I stood there patting myself on the back instead of high tailing it out of the room.
Airmaiden was the consummate teacher and educator, showing the utmost patience and resolve whether it was healing one of us fell into a trap he had pointed out earlier, or whether it was jumping down into the maze to shepherd those of us (like me) who fell down back out of it.
The highlight of the night was when he talked our PALADIN, who had never done this quest before, through the Agility trial and then the swim (on hard difficulty). Even thought our brave paladin died once during the swim, Airmaiden dived in (who knew dwarves could swim?), recovered the stone, raised him, and talked him through the remainder of the trial.
Just a great overall PUG experience late at night on Sarlona. Thanks everyone.
