Default New to the game but was wondering is there spells to enchant weapons and armor?

If so I want to make a melee class like this a type of hybrid but more offensive then defensive think of a paladin except can enchant others weapons and hiself like maybe make them elemental or give them damage shields and such.

If you want combat abilities for yourself as well as buffs for other party members, consider a bard. Splashing a few levels of another class or two can be helpful. Bard 16/Fighter 2/Rogue 2 is a popular build. You'll have songs and buffs to increase your party's damage output, although there's not actually a mechanism to enchant other people's weapons with additional effects.

As for paladins, you will also get some buffs for your party, specifically elemental resistances - going up to 30 for each element type - as well as the benefit of your aura, which can grant some decent bonuses if you spend the action points on it.

I found bard songs very visually unappealing and unmagical.

This isn't Dragon Age. There aren't really any spells that will buff the party's weapons with a specific element damage. Though clerics get a nice spell called Shield of Faith that will improve the party's AC for a temporary amount of time. There are several spells that buff the party in different ways.

You can not make other peoples weapon elemental or give them damage shields.

    Weapons:
    - Paladin can make Holy weapon
    - you can 'cast' fire ranged ammo
    - thats it.

    Damage shields:
    - self only
    - arcanes only (wizard, sorcerer)
    - Fire Shield, Unholy Aura (necro stuff)
    - thats about it.

What you want does not exists in DDO, give 'other' elemental weapons or damage shields. Self only and items. Elemental weapons, guard items (damage shield).

Bards song (up to +8/9 damage per hit) and Cleric/FvS spell Prayer (+1tohit and damage), Recitation(+2 tohit) is the only way to do what you want.

Plus Prayer/Recitation can also be found as scroll, wand or clickie. Its not alot (+1-2) and easy to get by anyone.

Bards song is big boost and unique, Bards only.

Bard is 'default' is you want good offence and excellent party buffs.

Bard song isn't magical. They make the best buffs because they can't be dispelled, last long for what they do and dun cost sp to cast.

But i agree Stormreach citizens must been fed up with the mad lute. Give bards a trumpet or something.

I could see cosmetic instruments (plus individual tunes) being a potential store item that'd probably do quite well - imagine the sight of a bard-heavy party - dwarf with a guitar, an elf with a pair of maracas, a half orc with a set of war drums, a warforged with a tiny little triangle, a halfling playing a flute and getting chased by giant rats that are almost the same size as him... considering their balletic dance moves, i can see half elves having something like a fold-out grand piano they set up and play for buff songs.
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was, now what's it is weird and scary to me.
