Great effort. I also tried this at lvl6 (on a TR'd and twinked Horc Barb) and also died in the last devastator fight. I was inspired to try after reading some forum post asking for a Chrono nerf "so pugs can do it."

The whole time I was madly drinking pots, I kept thinking how trivial it would be if I were allowed a hireling... but of course, it's a RAID!

I bet dollars to donuts you would have succeeded with a hireling.

Are the cookies of mass charm monster usable at that level / on those mobs?

I've been having similar issues. I've got a cleric/monk that I can push up to ~45 AC with ship buffs and pots, but quite a bit was sacrificed in damage to get there. Most mobs are pretty much harmless, but it's hard to actually kill everything before I get overwhelmed.

There are a lot of cookies that could help here, I always forget about them. The doggie cookies could possibly last a while against the trash. Stormreaver cookies could be just what the doctor ordered for dealing with Barbaezu during the final fight. If the charm cookies will work, even better.

While duo boxing on Elite, the second character (usually a suitable level cleric), ends up drawing a lot of attention from the minions in that last fight, to the point of being hard to keep up while maintaining attacks with the main, especially with melee. When using a ranged AA, was able to maintain attacks and help with the second guy. IF the hireling has enough self protection and healing, then it might be more useful and turn the tide. It really depends on how close to beating it without, since even a hireling will up the scaling a bit making things harder, unless you are on elite...
