    Default Advice on upcoming heart-eating.

Hey all, I'm planning on using a +3 greater wood to sort out one of my characters, it's currently lvl 17 and has serious troubles surviving in stuff now. The dps isn't all that bad, but could be much better, so I would like some input on which way to go, 2 levels monk and go longswords with elven enhancements or 2 levels rogue, khopesh and max umd.

Here are the builds I'm looking at:

First-tier Monk stances and elemental strikes with longswords will be inferior to sneak attack with Khopeshes; I would go with the former build, 12 Fighter / 6 Ranger / 2 Rogue with Khopesh and UMD. You should probably take your first level as Rogue for the extra skill points and take the second Rogue level much later on, ideally 20th level, so you can get max UMD.

I totally wasn't connected, and by the title thought this was a thread about zombies.

    I was disappointed.

Khopesh or Scimitar/Rapier for Elf. Difference is around 5-6%.

I'd go Khopesh. Best allaround weapon.

If not, then Rapier (still STR based) because 'heavy pick' is also pierce as rapir. Rapier for general combat, picks for when theres alot of auto-criticals (stuns, holds, FtS).

As much as I like WSS, if you are going to take advantage of it, you really need 6 levels of monk; 2nd tier stances, ninja incorporeal, shortsword use (nice for off-hand until you get OTWF). As it is, you really aren't getting any benefit out of monk except evasion and 2 extra feats, which you have plenty of.

12 fighter/6 ranger/2 monk is also known as the "Monster" build, pre-U5 and is an amazing build, even since the TWF nerf to Tempest 1 especially.

Rolling up as an elf is a bit odd for it, but I could see it working well. Max STR, 15 Dex and a +2 Tome, and 14 CON should round out decent stats for a DPS like this. any extra, throw into WIS for your spellcasting as a ranger. Rams Might and 10 Resists is definitely ok here.

Id say the first build is superior.

Im leveling a 6 monk/14 fighter right now who uses long swords. But Im doing it for Shadow Fade not because its great damage.

I think long swords make the most sense if youre going 6 monk as elf.
Wherever you went - here you are.
