Default is TR'ing worth it? (or Stay in lvl20 & Keep the tomes)

hello. My highest lvl char is only lvl 10. It's a long way to go.. But im asking this coz +2 tomes are going 50% off on monday and im wondering if i should get one. The reason i assume people keep playing level 20 is to get loot and gear that they can then give to their other characters.. and i see way a lot of lvl 20 players, so i guess people like to stay there. I read the past life feats and they don't seem to be that big a deal. 34/36 pt builds also don't seem like that big a deal if you compare it with using tomes.

So, anyone else contemplating whether to get the +2 tomes.. and not really planning to TR so they can keep them

A TR is not something you need to think about for a long long time.

In my experience and opinion, 1 TR is very good for nearly every character. You can build a better character, not making mistakes in build often done in the first life. You can have the bonus from the past life, if you choose to TR in a build which can have advantages from the past life (for example: wizard TR wizard). More than 1 TR is a choice, you can have a bit powerful character, don't think advantages from multiple TR are so good (except Completions, but can be a long road)

Don't buy tomes from store, you will find them in game

If you have built as 28 point then it is very worth it , then you can get the tomes on top of the bonus .
If you are already a 32 point build i still like it . 4 extra build points can make your charachter have leeway for diversity without gimping you .

"is TR'ing worth it? (or Stay in lvl20 & Keep the tomes)"
Wrong question. It should be: do you *want* to TR?

Some players like to levelup more then stay at level 20 forever. It has something to do with 'taste'. Some like to level, others like to raid.

32, 34, 36 builds are better if you have hybrid build, a build that needs many attributes high to really shine. Many multiclass builds are like that but even pure builds like Monk, Paladin.

I love to hang out on my 18 Ranger and my 20 Rogue, but sometimes the endgame is a grind and I'd rather level up my 13 TR.

Sometimes I just get in the mood to level a toon, but most of the time I just chill on the high guys, doing raids.

An alternate POV. I like the quests, I like TRing alts to run them again when I am more knowledgeable of my characters abilities. However Ive been playing for a few years, so there is a ton of new content that I am hitting for the first time, I also don't farm more than a couple quests when I TR, even on dbls, like other people do.

However, one does not need to TR to be strong end game. Much of the game is player skill, strategy and gear.

As for tomes, once you get to lvl 12--you can start pulling +2 tomes on a fairly regular basis if you hit the right content, as well as start earning enough money to just buy one from the AH.

    Yes.

This gets at the core of why I TRed my main: she was above level for each new content drop this year and I wasn't enjoying the level 20 content with her. My two high level toons won't TR for a while though.

I'm having more fun running her than I have in months and I'm applying lessons learned as I relevel her. When she finally caps I hope to keep her there for a while and TR another toon.

Its not as simple as a general yes or no. First it depends if you enjoy the levelling experience over the raids and epics end game experience. If you like a bit of both it is well worth doing it but only when you have at least one other toon that will stay at cap anyway giving you options to raid and farm with that toon when you cant be bothered levelling your TR.

There is a lot of good equipment out there that will make levelling your TR much more pleasurable but to get that equipment you will maybe need to grind the relative quests or wilderness areas out before TR . As that can take time you are better doing that with your first toon and introduce a second toon.

When both toons reach cap and you have managed to gather better equipment to TR then if you want you could TR but I would recommend having at least one GS item waiting for your TR to grow into it and another two capped toons to farm for more stuff (GS and ToD ingredients too) when you cant be bothered levelling your TR at a particular time.

This gives you options to raid, farm, level or do epics.

New players should be concentrating on getting plat and raid loot (and other loot) when they hit 20...

Also running alts during this time...

Only after you have a 20th level character fairly well supplied should you think about TRing...

I really enjoy TRing because I like playing the whole game... But I don't TR all my characters... The past lives have to make sense.... and I usually I want to make a serious change with a character... like a race change...

My dwarf wizard TRed to warforged wizard... The wizard past life feats (both the free one and the purchased one) are awesome... Changing to a self-healing warforged was awesome... Having tons of raid gear waiting for me at level 11,12,13 made leveling up fun...

My drow paladin has no reason to TR... I'd probably go drow again... and the paladin past-lives are pretty worthless for a paladin... Now, the paladin past-lives could be pretty cool on a monk.... but my paladin already has dual Min II khopheshs and those would be totally wasted on a monk... could work good on a fighter or barbarian I guess, but I already have a fighter and a barbarian, so for now, at least, I'm not messing with the paladin...

Anyway, I suggest just having fun with your character, roll up a few more as well, and when you get to 20, don't worry about TRing right away... get some loot first, and then revisit the idea down the road.

It is like going to a museum and bragging about how fast you made it through. Or bragging about how fast you finished a good steak.
