Default DDO Still crashing Video Drivers

Just an update to let TPTB know that even after update 8, DDO still crashes my video drivers.

I have two other threads here so not going to go into an further detail other than to say that DDO is the only game that I'm having this problem with so I doubt my video card is failing on me.

I will say that I'm using Windows XP Service Pack 3 with updated video card drivers.

    Hi Gauntlet,

Would suggest to me your driver install may not be clean.

    Perhaps try:
    http://downloads.guru3d.com/Guru3D--...load-1655.html

    and then the latest driver:
    http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/winxp...driver-uk.html

    Followed by DirectX:

Did you download the client afresh:

    Or just patch it?

    Well Smitey,

I would like to thank you for the links you provided and will most certainly try them out. My drivers are the latest but I'll try out the utility to make sure all the files were removed.

I also noticed that the link your provided for Directx 9.0c is extremely current were as the one I'm using i think is from like '05.

Thanks again for the help will give it a shot and see what happens. Would love to continue to play DDO but as it is, I've passed up several opportunities to purchase turbine points because, well, why spend the money if I can't play the game.

    Thanks again!

Edit: Oh, and I've downloaded it several times. I haven't tried to reinstall the client after Update 8, I just patched it. I figured if downloading and reinstalling the client (both hi and lo rez) after update 7 didn't fix things, then doing the same thing for update 8 wouldn't work either.

    one other question.

Would not having a clean install affect all programs or just certain ones? I'm asking because DDO is the only game that I'm having this problem with. Everything else runs fine.

You keep saying everything else works fine.. but what is Everything else? I've seen you mention WoW and LoTro.. Do you actually play any other games that are graphically intensive?

Your Audigy Driver is Out of date as well.

While turbine is far from Flawless, dont you think that if this was on their end we would see a LOT more people complaining about this issue?

Have you dropped all your settings to Low and Seen if that keeps the game running?

Short of Starcraft 2, and I don't know if you'd consider that "graphically intensive".

    No.

There were a lot more people complaining about this issue. Granted, Update 8 may have fixed it for them but it wasn't just me at the time. And since the only thing on my system that has changed, has been the graphics card, and the game ran flawlessly with Hi-rez graphics, before that. I'm assuming it was something on Turbine's end.

I have not dropped all my settings to the lowest possible. At least I don't think I have. I've tried just about every suggestion that seemed even remotely related to my problem and nothing worked. Will try it and see what happens. I'm going out on a limb here and going to say that if I drop things to the lowest setting and it works, then the brand new graphics card is wonky? Correct?

As for the sound drivers . . . . I'll have to look into them and see about updating them. I don't think it's the problem since it's my graphics that are malfunctioning and not the sound.

Lowered graphics settings to "low" and didn't crash this time. I didn't play that long but since previously, I couldn't last long enough to compete the "Locate Giantish Device" quest from the starter city, that says something.

So, guess I wait for nvidia to release some new drivers and will try again.

Hi guys, am having same problem with a Geforce fx6200. Only the game crashes nothing else on my pc is effected and I run Dawn of War (but not very often:-). If I find a fix, I presume its just a clean install that is needed or fiddling with the setting, that will sort it I will let you know. Thanks for the tips etc :-)
Zillvar and Feavin and Pennath and....... Has anyone seen the plot?

I hope you can find a way to fix it. I've done 3 clean installs as well as installing both hi and low res graphics and nothing has worked. The game was running fine and at pretty much max settings before my old 6800 GTS crashed. Got the 9800 GT and now can't play more for 10 or 15 minutes before the game crashes my video drivers.

As I posted previously, it seems that going to the lowest possible settings allows me to play the game but I don't want to play the game at the lowest setting on a video card that's 2 generations better than the previous one.

So far, there's been nothing from Turbine about it and as one of the previous posters said, since I (at the time) was the only one complaining, it must be something wrong with my system. ::shrug::

I'm still waiting for nVidia's next driver update and will give that a shot.

    Good luck.

    Unhappy Any more advice?

I have never had any problems with DDO nor any other games (LoTRO, SC, ect.) but lately, nothing but constant BSOD (blue screen of death). Error messages include:

    PFN_LIST_CORRUPT
    SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
    MEMORY_MANAGEMENT
Faulty device on Kernal must be replaced with a working one.

I scanned for Driver errors, since after looking up the error messages, that's what they pointed to. Found one, but its an 'Unknown Device'. I assume it must have something to do with DDO or NVIDIA, because when I disabled it using Device Manager, DDO wouldn't run after the character selection screen, and would soon after (before loading) give a BSOD once again. So I re-enabled this 'Unknown Device' and searched for an update to that driver. Nothing was found.

Is it possible to get a DDO driver download? I re-installed the game but to no avail. Nothing else crashes my computer, and it's making DDO - and only DDO - impossible to play without constant crashes, BSOD, and freezing.
