    Default Loading...Please wait.

    (I'm posting here since the Forums won't let me to post at Free Players Technical Issues sub-forum)

    Hello,

    I'm new to DDO, just downloaded the game today - yet i have some technical difficulties.
    Launcher patched the game just fine, downloaded all missing stuff etc. Game launches in no time
    BUT
    Whenever i press "ENTER" after character selection screen i am just stuck at loading page with Loading Bar doing nothing but displaying joyful message "Loading...Please wait" just to see "Connection lost" after 4-5minutes.

    Yes, i've read FAQ and searched thro forums, but nowhere is any good solution.

    I have installed .net 1.1.4322 +hotfix / reinstalled it
    I have reinstalled game
    I have added game to firewall (Kerio Personal Firewall)
    I have defragmented and cleaned out my PC + registry
    I have tested my ISP at speedtest.net (17.4MB/ 4.7MB down/upload)
    I have tested my ISP at pingtest.net (22ms/0% packet loss)

    This sounds more like an issue where anti virus or another security protocol is eating a command or two, and both sides are waiting for a handshake to complete thats never going to complete.

    Going into msconfig and disabling everything that is optional on your system (which includes anti virus, spyware, etc.) and then rebooting to start the computer without any of that excess garbage running in the background waiting to eat your scripts should resolve the issue if this is the case.

    When you launch, right click on the launcher and choose "run as administrator" if you are on a 64 bit system. I have noticed that 32 bit applications running on a 64 bit system sometimes have access issues as well, due to the nature of the way things get written into the registry permissions wise.

    My fault.

    I forgot to add i am using WinXP SP3 (32bit). Also i have stated i have broadband connection. As well as KFP i am using is not causing any problems to any other mmo's(9Dragons, RoM, DS, Vindictus) i am playing, thus i would see it last on the list of possible reasons of such behaviour of the game.

    Also my PC:

    - AMD 64 x2 3200+
    - 2GB DDR II RAM 667Mhz
    - MSI K9nu Neo-V
    - GeFroce 6800GT 256Mb
    - Seagate Barracuda IV SATA 80Gb

    I will try to perform ANOTHER ( yes i already did one, General PC cleaning + registry clean up + malware/spyware/allkindoftrash scan) and see whether it helps or not...

    Sidenote: While im stuck at Loading...Please wait. I can ALT+TAB to the KFP and the KFP indicates that dndgame.exe is connected to the internet AND is downloading+uploading data at rate of 0.8Kbps bot dwnl/upl. So..yes it transfers some kind of data durng that Loading...Please wait. thus it crashes after ~4minutes of such behaviour.

    Default Suggestions

    You may have tried some or all of these already:
    1 - You mentioned a firewall. For the sake of troubleshooting disable it, along with your antivirus. If you're on a wifi try connecting directly to your router/modem via ethernet. Basically try to eliminate as many points of potential failure as you can. If that resolves the issue then work backwards to find the source of the problem
    2 - Connect to a different world. See if you have the same problem
    3 - Don't try connecting around 5am server time (America EST, -7UMT I think?). There is often a maintenance process running at this time which can make the log on veeeeery slow, or even fail.

    Just for the record I've found the DDO client to be very reliable (apart from issue 3 which isn't a client side issue), I'm running XP SP3, so I'd suggest that you go through your end of the connection with a fine comb. Your last point suggest that the connection is timing out waiting for some specific transaction as Chai said, the 0.8Kbps would just be the connection heartbeat.

    About firewall.

    I've tried to(with no avail):

    - disable it
    - remove then add DDOUnlmtd again
    - uninstall it completely & try to launch without
    - installed old version & tried to launch
    - installed the newest version & tried to launch

    Also, WinXP SP3 contains build-in Firewall so i have added an exception of DDOUnlmtd there aswell.

    About different Worlds.

    Tried 3 so far, at all of them i could create character without problems. Thus im stuck at Loading...Please wait. At all of them.
    Should i try more worlds...?

    More notes, i have ehternet cable connection, not WiFi.
    I'm trying to connect for 2h flat and still trying as we talk.

    Tried also:
    - install 1.1.4322 + hotfix /+reinstall
    - installed .net 2.0 / 3.5 / 4.0+exteded /+reinstall each respectively /+uninstalled
    - updated all possible drivers

    - updating Spybot, will perform another scan

    Edit.: I just read all of the logs (not jut their endings) and i must admit i never seen more useless things...

    Edit.: SPyBot found nothing, msconfig is cleared. Still cannot log in. I can add/remover characters but not log in with them. :[

    That you have the same issue with multiple worlds suggests that there is an issue at your end. Rather than adding exceptions with you firewall, spybot, etc, just turn them all off, or even better uninstall them, and if it still doesn't work then at least you know that they aren't the problem

    By no means i am offensive to You (in fact im grateful anybody cares about this thread), but i think i said already i have tried to launch the game with Spybot & KerioPersonalFirewall uninstalled or disabled or with added exception to them with no avail :/

    Right now im redownloading client from the oficial DDO site, low resolution one....

    Btw. Are there any other logs that the DDO client creates? The ones i've found (and posted) are completely useless to me. If there is more might be they will contain more accurate and viable data.
    Why do i ask? Because only part containing ANY error/failure at my logs is this part:

    No offence taken. Sorry couldn't be more helpful. Honestly I've never had the never had to delve into the logs so I can't enlighten you there.

    Have you checked this thread, not sure how useful it is, at least there's some port info to check:

    Keep at it, DDO is really a great game (when its running!) with a great community.

    Edit: OK I see you've found a possible fix. You should be able to reinstall the fonts from a Windows XP or MS Office install disk

    Right now im searching for Tahoma.ttf font to reinstall it, could i ask You to upload yours? I guess Yours have to be correct (uncorrupted) as you are able to play.
    It's C:\WINDOWS\fonts select one of font files and press T, it should jump to the Tahoma at first shot.

    Sidenote:
    I do not belive it's fonts fault...why? Firefox uses Tahoma, MSI instalators uses Tahoma - if it would be that my Tahoma.ttf is corrupted, none of above would work. Thats what i think, but still trying to use that fix.

    Edit1.: Found some Tahoma.ttf v3.14 (installed over the only one tahoma i had "Tahoma(TrueType).ttf v3.15"- the log havn't changed, still demands that font...soz...

    Unfortunatly, the log remains the same. Still seems to be lacking some fonts. Might be its not about Tahoma.
    Any ideas where can i find the list of fonts used in DDO?*

    I have no resources to carry on my data that cannot get deleted atm.

    Am i screwed for good?

    Geez, this would be the 1st time i got beaten by a game...

    You should be able to do an in place reinstall without formatting the HD, however I've always been leary of doing that, get it wrong and there goes your data.

    Well you were thinking of getting a new, bigger, shinier HD yes? Perfect opportunity.

    I doubt you need an activation key. The error seems to point to fonts, correct?

    As of todays the issue still persists.

    I've sent a Support Ticket to the support team...is there a way totrack it's status? I have it's number.

    Also i must point out that i never seen worse Support page...so difficult to find anything there...

    Full OS wipe performed.
    Installing Drivers/DrctX/Firewalls&antiviruses/gameclient
    Then i will perform full HDD optimalization n defragmentation.
