Just an information piece, there is a pale lavender stone on the AH for 2.1M without suppressed powers, i.e. un-upgradable. 20 charges remaining, so 105k per spell it absorbs!
Good to know, I saw it on there and I didn't even bother to look if it had the suppressed power due to the high price (Guess I just assumed it was real). Not that I could afford that much anyway.
DDO is just like real life, people try to scam you... well I guess that would make sense, this game is played by real life people.
First of, I didn't post it on AH. lol
Second, it's been bid on up to 2.1 mil so how can you say that person is trying to scam ppl. Either it is worth it to them or they didn't bother to read what they were bidding on.

Same way a person trying to sell a fake Rolex at full market price, or a gold chain that is really some crappy metal. Sure those fake products "could" be worth that much to some stupid idiot in the world, but those fake things aren't the same market value as the real thing. I've worked in the law field for 6+ years, I know the definition of "intent."
Not everyone can tell something "real" from something fake, if people could, people wouldn't be scammed. The same thing goes for the Ioun Stone, not everyone knows that it supposed to say "suppressed power." This was especially a problem when the "new stones" came out, the forums were filled with victims paying outrageous prices for the old ones, people just didn't know what the legit product was. Even in the last Mabar event, people were trying to sell fake Lich Dust.
In most countries, there are consumer protection agencies, DDO doesn't have anything like that... because it's a game and not real money. So us gamers depend on each other to get information out on shady practices.
You can't tell me the person who put this stone on AH for that much believes that it's worth that much, I wasn't born yesterday. I'm sure they knew it was near worthless when they posted it. Sure there is an extremely small chance that some veteran could have came back to the game and found out they had this stone in their bank and actually believed it's worth that much and put it on AH, but that is highly doubtful.
People are greedy for money and will do anything for it, whether it's real money or game currency. That is just how the world is and probably will stay long after we die and become forgotten.
No one suspects that you posted it. I don't think Ioun stones have been in game since your join date, at least not until they were re-released with suppressed powers.
However, the person who posted this did so with the purpose of hoodwinking, yes hoodwinking, someone. Don't excuse someone's bad behavior.
There is always at least one bloodstone( crappy gem ) up on the AH at a price suitable for a bloodstone (+6 seeker ) Im sure this is always an honest mistake by the seller .
I my self put it on the ah for a price , and some 1 bid on it for a crazy price. If they want there money back i'll give it to them. Just biding on stuff and not under standing what you are biding on is not my fault. You must read and under stand what you are buying. And someone that has that much plat has been playing for awhile. Epic fail on there part. My part is i'm sell something on the Ah fair and open market. You see ioun and what to bid all out you must read the fine print ,and stop zerging around slow down it's only a game.
Hmm... interesting. I've only saw it at 2.1 million and it still had three days to go, so I assumed someone put it at a high value in the first place. I have no idea what the initial price you put it at then. If you didn't mean to "hoodwink" someone, I guess there is no harm done. It's honorable for you to come forward to set the record straight and offer to give them their money back. Of course they would loose the AH fee and probably should reward you too.
Either way, who ever this person was, they are gonna be losing a lot of PP one way or another. I'm going to assume that this player couldn't tell the difference between the new and old version, if not, then you are right, can't blame stupidity.
What ever the case, Turbine has been doing a real crappy job recycling names and pictures on important items. Lich Dust, Bloodstone and Ioun Stones were bad calls by Turbine when recycling names and/or pictures, creates a lot of confusion, especially with newer/casual players.
Since there is no way of knowing who the buy or seller is on AH it is very stand-up of you to speak up. Since the AH takes a 3rd of the bid it sounds like you may be out 600K plat if the other person take you up on your offer. Or may be you both should take a 300k plat hit.

Maybe the bidder saw it but only wants it as a status affect for the little glowing lightning bug around their head? And if that is the case, LET ME KNOW, I got a couple old ones for half that price
Wait, can you hear it? Is it? The worlds smallest vio..nah... nevermind... it can't be, its too small..
Actually yes DDO does have the "buyer beware" policy.. all games are regulated in "full" as per the "buy as is" concept.. meaning you can't sell something that is worthless if it serves no general purpose. Games "are" regulated because your "time" is considered a "foundation" for the concept your worth money... no different than a product that's bought and sold and / or the work or "time" put into playing a game.
And frankly take the time to read up as we all do on products sold in the AH, I've seen enough ""scams"" to say hmmm I don't think I'm feeling like a sucker today, maybe tomorrow ... simplicity at it's best
*Slap a dwarf, at least no ones picking on the halfling then*
I'm sure one of my mules still have an old version of this. So if I wait till the auction is over and give you an old version of the ioun stone with me claiming it was bought off the AH you are really going to give me all that easily earned plat thinking I was the one who bought it originally?
To bad Turbine didn't just upgrade the old ones when they put out the new ones and avoid this sort of nonsense.
Whenever Turbine changes an item they should allow for an essentially free recipe to upgrade it to the most current version in the stone of change. No 3 epic tokens or any other nonsense. It's not the player's fault that Turbine makes poor items in their first (and sometimes second/third) passes.

Very true MR. Mud. You got a point. The bider might just have to take the lost. Will wate and see.
Just go to dreaming dark with the essences and try to upgrade a ioun stone without suppressed power.... You could have a surprise...
