Astreya the Unturning
It's always a shame when the hammer of poor design choices smashes the fun of player tactical adaptation.
Has anyone considered going 1arty/2monk/17cleric?
You would gain 50sp, profs in all crossbows, rapid reload, and maintain trap skills and only lose 2 reflex.
Plus if you went half elf you could use rogue dilly for 3d6 sneak damage so would gain 2d6 over 1 rogue.
seems like an idea that may pan out.
Since your DCs won't be super high, why not be more melee focused and put all those levelups into strength?
Awesome build, I might do it when I get to my cleric life =)
"Only 2 reflex" is a bit of a misnomer, you actually lose a lot of reflex considering that the build is really struggling to get a useful reflex score anyway.
If you're not sold on the 1 rogue then consider 1 fighter or 18 cleric instead. 1 Fighter gives an extra feat which is really amazing for this build along with extra hit points. 18 cleric gives +1 spell pen, more SP, more spell slots (which are useful) and provides the possibility to take radiant servant III (which looks like will arrive sometime after july this year?).
DCs not super high? You lose 2 wisdom from only starting with 16 base but gain 2 wisdom from water stance so it's a wash overall, exact same potential for DCs as what a pure cleric has.
Hmm, so the arti splash on a h-elf is still not as good as the rogue? Just curious, because on a h-elf you could switch to paladin dilly for the saves. You'd lose the 1d6 sneak attack, but wouldn't that be at the point where it's less useful anyway?
sneak attack enhancements and halfling guille.
1d6 : 1 level base from roque levels.

first one costs quite a few ap, but i like the to hit which comes with it.
Ok, thanks! So really halfling vs helf would be damage vs survivability? I.e. the halfling does more damage, but the helf has more healing amp?
And while I'm asking noob questions... how do you get the sneak attack damage solo? Is that something that's useful once you have BB, or do you end up doing more kiting than stabbing?

The +3 enhancement is available to half-elf as well if you take 1 rogue level so it is 14.5 damage for each ... just for 6 AP vs more as halfling.
Edit: Sorry, I can't count, 13.5 for half-elf with /1 rogue and 14.5 for halfling. Fact remains that rogue dilettante+/1 fighter gives more to the split than rogue does I think (as I can't be bothered to disable traps anyway, +1 stunning fist DC, more HP and most importantly 1 feat).

I just wanted to add that I'm really enjoying this build. Ok, I admit that this is my only toon that I run, hah.
I took level 15 (finally) on my Valiance build last night so was able to take my 12th level of cleric and radiant servant II. Also ate my +4 Int / Chr / Wis tomes... nom nom nom!
Took a walk through Gianthold to do explorers n' rares and see how Rockridge fares in the wild and very little hits him with 58 AC self buffed in Water stance (can hit 62 if I bother with a Shield wand). DPS is a little on the low and slow side against Stone Giant Captains for instance but that's OK, I know I didn't build a barbarian.
Bladebarrier is the easy button. Get aggro to Yellow alert and drop a BB and start kiting. Symbol is of Persuasion is also fun.
I've pretty much solo'd my way up to level 13 doing Elite runs for bravery but am having to PUG more now because of a lack of familiarity in the longer quests.
It's been a slow and long grind as this is my 3rd life (1st was cleric and 2nd was wizard).
I went with 1 rogue mainly for UMD and traps earlier on but I may reconsider 1 fighter down the road.
All in all, two thumbs up for this build (four if you count my big toes)!
PS - One thing I'm trying to figure out is whether I should swap Extend for Empower (or possibly Gtr 2 Weapon) once I cap.
Oh, list of my current feats would probably help...
1 cleric (extend) (maximize-human bonus)
3 cleric (Wiz PLF)
6 cleric (empower healing)
9 cleric (2 wpn fighting)
12 cleric (improved 2 wpn fighting)
13 monk (toughness)
14 monk (stunning fist)
15 cleric (quicken)
18 cleric (heighten)

Ah ok, I hear you on the Stunning Fist. I typically dual wield Min2 GS kama for +3 exceptional Wis (as per original Valiance build) but for self healing mobs that don't kite well, I break out my stunning wraps and hit the Stunning Fist button which allows me to dispatch them quickly. I don't have Tharaak Wraps yet as I didn't want to grind for them last life. I will definitely do so in this life. I'll give GTWF a whirl once I cap or get Tharaak Wraps, whichever comes first. If I score a +1 heart, I may try out fighter instead and rogue and take IC:B so long as I can still get my UMD high enough to use level 10 shield wands. Thanks for the advice as always Wowo ;-)
Just curious to know if anyone has tried a Valiance build on test. I've got a halfling 1.0 version I've been enjoying, but now I'm wondering if when the patch hits I'll be better off TRing and going with a FvS or druid, or if it will still play well at cap and in epics.
