Default Fort is the new dump stat!

Has anyone else noticed what seems like a new trend among arcanes? Many new upcoming wiz's/sorc's have high con and decent hp's. However, they seem to not put any time nor effort into FORTIFICATION.
Has anyone else noticed this? I was part of a fail Shroud last night (yes they still happen) where both of the party arcanes, one was and elf sorc and the other a WF wiz, were one shotted by Harry at the start of part 4. Unfortunately, they were both standing next to one of the healers and he was taken out too...
As the party was re-forming I looked up both players on myddo (which appears to be somewhat working again). The sorc had 284hp and 0% fort. The Wiz had 364hp and 25% fort. Correct me if I am wrong (which I have been known to be quite often) but shouldn't casters have heavy fort too?
Looks like the word has been spread that Con is not a dump stat. Should we start the next promotion about fort?

A character without fortification? That's daft, even on arcanes! I really can't imagine what sort of player would do this.

And I was so hoping it would be! LOL :P

I have to agree that Fort seems to be something quite a few people don't pay attention to. It's so easy to get too! Heck, I'll even farm the Orchard for the Taps for people and sell a set of 20 for 100k plat if people wanna be that lazy.

Myddo's still broken so might as well be another reason. (At least for me and several others it's broken. My lvl16 bard's still lvl 5 there)

I'm okay with a character having only a medium fort item... as long as they're WF.

I honestly can't think of any reason to have less than 100% fortification past level 12 other than simply not knowing that fortification exists.

Well, if you look at the bottom of the character, you can see if it was updated recently. for example, my main is broken:

The problem is never how to get new, innovative thoughts into your mind, but how to get old ones out. Every mind is a building filled with archaic furniture. Clean out a corner of your mind and creativity will instantly fill it.

I wouldn't necessarily rely on MyDDO to tell you whether or not someone has heavy fort. No matter what the slot is, I often have something else I switch to for various purposes, so it might not stay equipped all the time. I usually remember to switch to it during quests, but sometimes I forget to switch when logging out. If MyDDO takes its snapshot while I'm logged out, you might see my character without heavy fort.

But yeah, not having heavy fort by the time you hit Shroud is kinda crazy. I think part of the problem with some of the newer players is lack of knowledge for how best to obtain it. It can be equipped at min level 9, but some newer players don't have the plat to lay down for an appropriate item on AH when they do reach 9th level. And while running Relic is a good way to get it, new players will blanch at running a level 12 quest at level 9, even though there are those of us who know better. And on top of that, I have been in Relic groups who skip the ore collection portion of that quest because "it's optional" or adopt an everyman for himself attitude.

Casters being one shotted isnt necessarily an indication of no fort.

Also: MyDDO is broke as a joke. Not only does it not update when its supposed to, but it only shows what gear someone has on when they log off. A haggle item could easily be in the same slot as a fort item.

P.S. That DQ you jumped out of with the 4 casters you claimed would cause auto fail for the raid for some weird reason, we succeeded, easily. Any 2 of us could have duoed that. It was the group leader who didnt have his stuff together. We should have reformed without him instead of splitting off.

Unless your arcanes and healer were within shadowhump range of Arraetrekos, they could only have been taken out my a meteor swarm or delayed blast fireball. Neither of which are affected by heavy fort.

Your problem was not lack of fortification, it was lack of resist fire, and lack of melees smart enough to block the path from harry to the healers. Or possibly the overabundance of casters/healers that like to melee harry with thier potency daggers.

I do agree that everyone should have 100% fort though.

    Arrow Sorc with Fort

I'm not sure how casters could not possibly realize the benefit of having HF.... ? I play on every server, though my sorc is on Ghandalla, she has the HF necklace item you get from the mines (turned in 12 coals(?) to get the HF necklace). Had it on her since she was first able to wear it and will never replace that neck item unless I find a robe of SR and HF (miracles can happen).
Didn't realize CON was the dump stat since I put everything I can possible into CHA? I think my CON is a 12 at best. So my sorc has approx 2700+ sp (forgot exact amount) at level 15 (32 CHA). Besides aren't casters supposed to try to keep in the middle to back area away from melee combat and getting hit by anything? If a caster is in melee I usually mentally bet their death in a few seconds. Robes vs Full Plate/Half Plate or anything armor, my bet is robe = fail.

So any advice/opinion on what I've done so far is appreciative.

Fort and con are wasted stats because I never plan on being hit.

isnt it fun when someone with so lacking game knowledge comes here to the forum blame a wipe on other players

yes as many poeple said, anyone dying in p4 while in range has been killed by a spell, then fortification doesnt matter

the caster was standing near the healer probably to get a heal, or to use the cleric aura to self heal because pathetic melees would not let a second for the cleric to heal the injured arcane

very few of caster (exept evasion splash) can take 2 meteors in a raw, it happens

learn the game before complaining about others (and then you will understand it is pointless to do it anyway)

and yea MyDDO is not reliable information for anything you may want to check

Since this is a Sarlona thread...

If you are at least level 11 and have been having trouble getting your hands on an item with Heavy Fortification, send a tell or an in-game letter to my main (name in sig). I will happily take you on a few rare runs in the Orchard and assign you any tapestry shreds that appear in chests for me. May not get it done in one session, but at least you will know your way around Orchard rares and will have made significant progress toward your Minos Legens helm.

You must have access to Necropolis pt. 4 (own the pack or be VIP) to take advantage of this offer. Also, please only contact me if you have genuine need. I don't really want to spend hours in the Orchard just to give away my shreds to someone who just wants to sell them.

I've been told when I was on my caster I need to keep myself up. Heals are on the melee. I have no problem with this. The melee are going to be DPSing Arrytrekos down anyway and it isn't like you are going to get the bonus from not dying anyway.

The caster keeps running around in a circle and can suck a pot, UMD a heal, or if WF cast repair/reconstruct, in every case the arcane should take care of themsleves. They aren't going to take the brunt of the damage. They are also supposed to stay way from the healer so that the healer doesn't take any damage from something aimed at the arcane.

Elf is not the best race for Sorc. With under 300hp, I think he should keep cold shield always on.

For the wiz, if he is not a Pale Master, 25% fort is not acceptable. I don't blame the sorc, but the WF wiz has something wrong. He probably didn't take insightful reflex that is one of the best feat a wiz could get. (you could verify it simply by check his reflect save)

If on normal, I highly doubt Harry's DBF or Meteor would do 364+ dmg in one hit. He probably didn't top his HP after getting hit, or he doesn't have quicken.
