    Default Update 7 Issues

Hey, have some at issues that I'd like resolved.

    1) The least important, although a little annoying, is that when I log in, the initial loading screen before the character selection loads fairly quickly up until the last 20th or so. Then it takes quite awhile comparatively (about a minute) to finish loading from there.

    2) The moderately important and moderately annoying problem is that when I log in, and am at the character select screen, the UI is visible but everything else is black. Yes, I heard the "known issue" stuff. The problem is, I don't use DirectX 10. Is this uncommon, or am I going to get the same blanket answer of "use DX9"?

    3) The most annoying by far and most troublesome by far is that when I log in with any character, the loading screen after that doesn't load. At all. It's a constant black bar that says "loading... please wait". I've been leaving it be for about a half hour, and by then, if it were my antivirus, it would have asked for dndclient.exe access by now. I've played numerous times on this laptop with this antivirus, and have never had this problem before. And yes, it's a laptop that runs the game well enough where I don't need lowest-possible-graphics in order to not lag (I'm sitting at about medium graphics without lag).

    Any solutions?

    Default Maybe it's Windows7?

Yeah, Windows 7 here. I watched my little brother try to run it on the downstairs computer, Windows 7, and the thing had the same problems. Not a laptop, a fully-functioning desktop.

I am experiencing the very same problem. I have windows vista (notebook, Nvidia GeForce 8400M GS) and just downloaded update 7. What do I do?

    Default Yeah...

I'm hearing from my little brother that he gets that error message sometimes as well. I'm thinking that update 7 is the buggiest of all the updates. :[

    Default Uhhh...

Yeah, downloading DX9 isn't helping at all, for one. And for two, I'm surprised they're even using DX9, unless I'm somehow missing something like "DX9 is newer than DX10". Cause then I'd just have to ask "what kind of foresight let them know how many DX's they'd come out with?". Oh well.

Anyone actually know what's going on?

Well, guys, im sorry to say that you cant blame this on Win7 or the fact that you're using a laptop.

I always played DDO on my laptop, for about a year now. I had xp, vista and win7 in this, and they all worked just fine with DDO.

    --

About the dll error: type the name of the dll on google, the first site should be a dll archive that allows you to download a new dll. just copy it on your DDO folder and it should work fine. If anyone prefers to download a tested one, PM me and ill send you the one i used that works just fine.
If you do have the dll and youre still getting the error message, save the original file before testing the new one.

    --

About the other errors, i have none of those, the only weird thing is that i get to selesct a "subscription" on the client, after i log in, before i can get to the character screen, and only one of them has my characters in it. Anyone having the same issue?

I'm not downloading anything extra to make sure the game works. They should be able to patch this problem in at the most a week. I know enough about programming to understand that, sure, it may take some coding and fileswapping, but they should be able to give us a patch for these problems pretty quickly.

Until then, though, I can't play. I was excited about the undead event, but it seems they won't fix this until I can get back to it. I just don't understand why they'd change up things about the game that would cause this... really, they need to learn "don't fix what ain't broken", cause they just broke it.

    Default Same issue

I am having the exact same problem. I get to the "loading..please wait" directly after the character selection screen, which is black, and then I just get stuck. It never loads no matter how long I wait. I am a premium member, and this is bs. I can't even play the game. My subscription is coming up for renewal soon, and I'm seriously considering not renewing. Every update they do the game just gets buggier.

    Default Fixed It!

Fixed it. When I got to the UI screen, I clicked on options in the lower left hand corner, went to graphics, and changed the graphics hardware level to Direct9x instead of 10x. Not only did it fix the UI screen, but it allowed me to finally log in.

    Default Update 7 crashes

I am having a problem on 1 computer where update 7 crashes after about 1-2 minutes of game play.

Does anyone know why this might be?

yes that should fix for most as patch 7 changed EVERYONE to DX10 by default so you have to change to back even if you were using DX9 before

My game keeps crashing too. I have a brand new Radeon HD 4670 installed.

    Tried with latest drivers
    Tried with older drivers
    Put everything on default settings
    Switched to DX9
    Tried to raise clockspeed

the game totally freezes after 10min or 30min. Sound stops working, only a reboot works.

Orther games seems to work fine; just bought Cities XL 2011 (i can recommend it).

I sent a ticket to customer service but no response....

I have the same problem and solved it by changing the graphics to DirectX 9. Since I'm playing on a laptop with share graphics on a Core i7 CPU, I need the most graphical bang for the buck. I noticed the DirectX 10 graphics look much better.

Has anyone figured out how to get it to run with DirectX 10 or DirectX 11?

    It's not DX 11 compatible.

I'm not sure why everyone else is having issues with DX 10 I run mine in DX 10 (on a laptop with win 7 64 bit) just fine (even after U7)

It could be down to anything really (hardware settings, hardware type, hardware manufacturer, dx versions/updates)

Good luck to everyone with DX issues.

    Default same issue resolved

I took the advice of using Options under the start up screen, then graphics, then select directx 9, restart game - problem solved.
