You should provide more details if you want the best advice, for example:

    - Why do you want to multiclass?
    - What is your overall goal for your character?
    - What is your playstyle?

    As far as playstyle:

What do you want the character to be?
    --Mainly melee character
    --Some melee/some caster
    --Mainly caster

Do you solo alot or do you like to group with people?

Do you rush up to the nearest monster or do you use tactics and terrain to your advantage?

Do you like to soften enemies up from afar before going toe to toe with them?

All of these questions come into play when thinking about your character and how you want to build them. I know this can be daunting but DDO is not your average MMO, with its ability to multiclass and selectable feats/skills you can get many, many different options on a character.

DDO is great because of its multiclassing but it is also one of the biggest pit falls for new players. You see and hear that mutliclassing is better but in reality if it is not by design and planned from the beginning it can ruin a character really fast.

My best advice to you is to just play pure classes for a while and try many different ones. Find the one you like the best and fits your 'playstyle' the best, then come back to the Forums with a character idea and we will be happy to assist in finding you the build that completes that image in your head.

Hi, I've found that a multi-class toon I really like is a Bard-barbarian, with splash of rouge.

It gives you the ability to do just about anything that you would like to do.

    I have a 4th Barb, 2nd Rouge(for evasion), and 14th Bard.

And He's just a lot of fun, nearly 500 hit points, and a huge Umd, and hits really hard...

There are lots of great multiclassed builds out there; unfortunately, there are even more ways of gimping a MC build if you don't know what you're doing. "Fights & self-heals" is pretty generic; it helps if you're more specific.

I would suggest you stay pure fighter for a few more levels to get comfortable with the game. Learn what all the various numbers relating to damage, stats, skills, feats, enhancements , etc mean. Get a good feel for the game, then delete your fighter and start over. You'll probably realize you made some sort of mistake with your current fighter build and want to redo it.

The best way to learn is just run as many quests as you can, join some good groups for quests, look for a New Player Friendly Guild and ask lots of questions. The Vets out there like to impress Newbs with their vast knowledge of the game. Use them to your advantage.

Finally, spend as much free time as you can browsing these forums. Lots of good advice here.

It's kind of tough to properly play a multiclass character this early in the game.

DDO is a great game...I've been playing for about 10 months now and am still addicted, and still learning.
