    Default Want a Halfelf fvs that can cast/melee and heal to offcourse. Help me optimize this.

    So basically i like to do a bit of everything.

    That why i thought to make me a halfelf melee/casting fvs.
    I like melee so any pointers on how to make this better in melee are welcome. But i wish to retain some spellcasting.
    I thought about going all out on str and no will but that would still leave me with same feats so that i can heal somewhat. It basically would mean a bit more to hit and damage for alot of loss in spellcasting i think.
    Rogue dilettante for the extra sneak attack damage

    Things i am afraid of:
    I dont have empower nor do i have extend nor pa.
    I hope the capstone will be good enough to heal me a bit.

    I also though of going 18fvs/2monk. Then i could melee a bit better it would net me empower and extend. But i would loose capstone free healing and damage reduction. So not sure about that.

    Anyway this is just a basic layout. Feel free to adjust.

    I did not take any skills yet, will probably be concentration and some balance.

    If i would go full str i would probably go for 16/15/16/10/8/10 more hp to live longer and one more skill i can take. My human extra stat points would go towards str and con i think.

    Seeing the views and no replys i have to conclude this is one uber build :-)

    Nah guessing its not ideal, i just dont know.

    I wanne do something with halfelf preferably with rogue or paladin dilettante. I like to melee and have some casting powers but high dc does not have to be part of it.

    I know lotb is probably better for what i want. Decent melee and nice healing.

    I'd drop Improved Critical for Maximize.

    WIS a dump stat. There should be NO points in it at all.

    Spec into Scimitars not Longswords.

    Don't bother with WIS increasing enhancements.


    Basically, WIS is gonna be useless to you unless you get Heighten, Maximize, Empower, and Quicken at a minimum. Getting all those would kill your melee ability. At which point you'd be better off going Human for the extra feat.

    I disagree here. You don't need heighten to do some insane DPS with blade barrier. It helps get the high reflex save and evasion enemies, but with the wisdom you have in this build you will still be hitting for full damage much of the time, especially with a greater evocation focus item. I don't like not having empower, but you can still be a pretty decent offensive caster without it, You will almost certainly want extend though.

    Definitely go with scimitars if you are going to be an elf or half-elf. Longswords are find if you go human for the extra feat (which you may need). Might want to consider an 18/2 monk splash for the two extra feats. You are going to be spreading yourself really thin if you want to be able to both melee and offensively cast.

    Yeah being spread out to thin was what i am afraid of.

    I rather drop gtwf instead of improved crit i think. 20% offhand attack or 10% more crits at double damage, about same i think but some effects are on crit. Also the increase crit works on both hands.

    As a half-elf you cant go for scimitars, so i have to go with long swords.

    I thought about dumping wis, then i would be something like this i think

    I still wish i could fit in empower or empower heal for the free heals at cap and extend.

    I would be willing to drop gtw for one of those, but that probably would not be ideal.

    I know going human gives me one more feat. But i would loose the 3d6 sneak attack.

    I could go monk and get, as feats i would probaly get toughness twf itwf gftw(or empower) improved crit pa quicken maximize and extend. I would loose the free healing capstone, the 2 cha and the damage reduction. (I also not sure how monks combine with longsword without the feat. I never tried this, my only monk char uses wraps)

    No. Heighten is basically +6 WIS for Blade Barrier DCs.

    If a build had Heighten, but 10 base WIS, you'd say it was wasting a feat. So how is starting with 16 WIS but not taking Heighten not wasting build points?

    I had an 18/2 scimi swinging elf FvS, level ups in str and just buffing/healing spells but I found the DPS still totally lackluster. I just recently LR'd her into a wis based full FvS and took Falchion as a feat so she can swing that two-handed. The DPS is still meh but at least now I have offensive spells I can hit reliably with.

    Where am I going with this? I was thinking you could try a str based Half-elf with the fighter dilettante and swing Falchions/Greatswords. It would allow you to drop dex to 12 or so and set your wis around 12 as well.

    Another option that might be sweet for a helf is to take the monk dilettante and bump your healing amp way up for those free CLWs.

    I tried halfelf fvs pure which i still prefer. And monk splash
    I agree in dropping wis.

    Cause i wanted one of the new races i even tried halforc, but that was even harder. Still this is what i have.

    Halforc 18fvs/2paladin for great saves(which i like)

    I even tested some paladin builds but me set on fvs, melee and one of the new races preferably halfelf.

    I know i should be less stubborn :-)

    I think you are on the right track. At level 20, I've generally found most of the divine offensive spells other than Blade Barrier pretty useless. Blade Barrier, incidentally, is actually quite powerful while leveling even with a starting Wis of 6 and no heighten, and only maximize.

    I've capped a few FvS to 20, and I've generally found you are better off trying to focus on either melee or offensive casting (healing is a given). The "do it all" builds with Wisdom, melee and monk splash is really powerful until you hit 20, and then you find you aren't good enough at either casting or melee compared to those who focused a bit more.

    Maybe it's just me, but it's a lot easier to heal a group with a two-handed weapon. The longer reach, etc, is really nice because you are going to be distracted while fighting, because you are generally also responsible for healing the group. I've found that on my TWF FvS I was out of range a decent amount of the time because I just can't pay as close attention to melee as a dedicated melee build. You might find that this is not a big deal with practice, but that's just my experience. Nowadays, if I find that if I can focus enough on melee, I just twitch for the extra dps.
