    Default Monk weapons, drop equality

I am only level 4, seen wraps and quarterstaffs, couple of Kamas. If you go down the two weapon route do we find much in chests? I have not even seen a short sword yet, but that’s supposed to be a class weapon via Ninja feat/enhancement. So do the hand wrap and quarterstaff guys get loads of choice while duel wielders get a rough deal?

    Hi there.

First of all, the loot from chests is totally random afaik and does not depend on your class. Only the end rewards can be determined by your class if you leave that option switched on in the game settings.

I play a capped light monk, so idk about the ninja spy PrE influence on end rewards. But for me, all the weapons i use are either crafted (mabar festival) or bought from the AH. I got one pair of wraps as an end reward that i will probably use once i get my ToD rings done (some +5 Holy of Maiming). Pulled them during that +2 loot week a few weeks ago.

Personaly, i would not rely on end rewards in order to gear up, regardless of the levelrange i'm at.
And it shouldn't distract you from playing what you want.

    1) there is an option to limit loot to your class or not, afaik this doesn't mean you'll only get wraps/kamas/q.staffs as a monk but it does skew the tables that way. (this applies to all loot rolls not just end loot, iirc thx.janus =p)

1a) this really isn't effective and/or WAI for monks so don't hold you breath

    2) given 1a, i really doubt pre's are taken into account.

    3) two weapon fighting affects wraps as well as dual wielding, so it's not a waste to use wraps till you find some good s.swords. though i would always suggest you use wraps as DPS should be higher (unless you can't beat a particular DR or want to use certain effects (e.g. vorpals)

so... either keep the box ticked and pray for s.swords or untick it, sell trash and good items to the AH and by s.swords from the AH.

Anything can be in chests - my wizards and monks routinely pull full plate. The checkbox limits end rewards, and does not take any feat or enhancement into account. If you are a monk, the only weapons you will get are handwraps, quarterstaves, and kamas. It is also important to note that some end rewards (for instance the Delera's chain or every Korthos quest) do not obey these restrictions.

Yes, I don't think unique (named) items are affected by the 'end reward governed by class' option at all. I found my Carnifex on my monk, and my Devotion handwraps on my barb.

Yeah, chests are random, and end rewards can be based on class (if you have that option turned on). However, it's just by class, it doesn't look at your actual proficiencies, like if you took EWP: Khopesh, or got Short Sword via Ninja Spy.

I've been looking at the Delera's chain specifically, mostly because it's the only full chain I run with any frequency, and I think it automatically has 1 shield slot (that is only sometimes the named shield) for all classes, even those (such as monks) that will never see a shield in end rewards otherwise. That was a really unwieldy sentence, let me try again: I think that it's not the named item part, I think it's that named items only occur in end rewards that are already different from mundane end rewards.
